I read some comments from one of the TONTO guys (don't recall if it was Malcolm or Robert) in a book about Stevie, that said there was something fishy about Stevie's car wreck accident from the early 70's. It seemed to me that he was implying that the accident didn't happen (or didn't happen the way it was reported) and that Stevie's "people" and entourage took control of him afterwards. The TONTO guy also said that some of Stevie's "people" were racist and tried to keep him from whites and that was one of the reasons they (Robert & Malcolm) stopped working with Stevie.

I read about that too. During the recording of Fulfillingness' First Finale, there was a lot of hostility among Stevie, the TONTO team, and the folks Stevie brought in the studio from time to time. Cecil recalled that he was trying to get Stevie to mix something, but Stevie's brother and other people started to rant racial slurs. Cecil uttered something like "Hey, can you guys quiet down", but Stevie would tell him repeatedly in an agressive matter to not talk to his friends like that. An argument between Stevie and Cecil, causing Cecil to storm out of the mixing studio. At the Grammys, when Stevie won the Album of the Year prize for Fulfillingness', Stevie was quite distant from the TONTO guys and it irked both guys out. Stevie's entourage got larger and larger as time went on, but in the end they were just leeches.

Steve was definitely on his POWER TRIP by then. neutral That's why Syreeta's albums had a more personal edge. I think she about cursed him out in "Just a Little Piece of You"! Guess she was starting to see the cracks in the surface around Stevie. lol

So true! You'd think that the car accident would change his personality alittle more, but he was still ticking people off back in the day.

I believe after Stevie's accident, he became more paranoid, and people outside of his circle really preyed on that, which lead to the disbanding of Stevie and Tonto. I think nowadays he's mellowed out because of family obiligations, but imagine if Stevie went the other way and became like Prince?

Yeah he was definitely getting close to Prince's antics...but he mellowed out.

Wow. I never thought of the song in that sense (though, I can see what you're referring to) but I always thought that even though something in their relationship changed, she would never ask nothing but a little piece of him- cause deep down she knew Stevie had the best to offer, at his best.

That's why it sounded why she was cursing under those sweet lyrics (that she wrote). lol Like she knew she could trust Stevie but wanted to make sure. "Alright, I know your black ass loves me..." Least that's how it sounded in my ears especially near the end.

I've always thought there's certain artists whose music should never be downloaded or bootlegged or whatever - and Stevie Wonder is right at the top of the list. Whatever Stevie stuff I have on my iPod, I paid for it.

I feel like doing otherwise is guaranteeing yourself a seat in Hell or something. lol

I'm having a hard time trying to find this particular show.I tried to Google search it but nothing. How many hours did Stevie play? And instead of Wonder playing his most popular hits such as "Superstition","I Wish","Living For The City" and others, did he play any of his random tunes like"All Day Sucker","Saturn","SuperWoman"and "Ordinary Pain"in this 1977 show?I'm dying to hear them!I'm sure that Gil Scott Heron was great, too(RIP).Please hit me back.Peace.

Me too. I'm pretty resourceful and haven't been able to find this one.

The oddity of the collection is a jam session of Stevie jamming in Malibu with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson and Bobby Keys from 1974 (yes, you read that correctly Lennon and McCartney in 1974). Unfortunately, it sounds better on paper than it does in actuality. It circulates under the name, "A Toot and a Snore in '74."

I have that. That was the only time that Lennon and McCartney played together after The Beatles had broken up. But you're right, it's not particularly interesting.

May Pang and Linda McCartney were also jamming with them on the session.... but Lennon and presumably a few others were strung out on coke at the time.

It's interesting that this happened while John and Yoko were separated and John was living with May. I doubt whether it would have occured if John and Yoko were together at the time.

I'd agree with you there. I think Yoko was always threatened by Paul's relationship with John. There is another interesting bootleg that surfaced not too long ago of Yoko in 1968 basically talking into a microphone about her insecurities in her relationship to John. The reason the bootleg has circulated is because, in the background The Beatles are jamming through a 20-minute+ version of Revolution.

I do believe they played together other times throughout the 70's, as Paul has made reference to it in both song lyrics and interviews. It just wasn't taped or if it was, it has never circulated or been released. Was probably just informal jamming.
