The mutilation of Tori Amos's face

Why the hell has she done this to herself? I like down syndrome people as much as the next person, but I wouldn't go under the knife to try and look like one.

...You really thought this was a legitimate, decent idea for a thread?

Lame.

It's her body, she can do whatever she wants to it.

And she still has more talent in her left thumb than you have in your entire body.

I'm not disputing her talent. It's just disappointing to watch her hack her face to pieces the minute she finds a wrinkle. It seems to go against a lot of what she claimed to stand for as well.

Eeek! How old is she? Surely a few wrinkles would have suited her better.

Agreed about the wrinkles.

Looking at the two photos, it's surpising the contrast.

I remember meeting her in 2005 for a signing relating to The Bookeeper & Piece by Piece. She looked so different. I'm not going to read her because we're talking looks and that's superficial, but she looked different.

Maybe I am being superficial, but that was actually the time I went off Tori. At the time (and even now, somewhat) it seemed very opposed to Tori's early records, which were so much about self-affirmation, growing pains, the violence in personal relationships and other topics as well. Plastic surgery seems so far from self-affirming.

Plus, her production became too samey and I couldn't be bothered.

Totally agree with you. And the first picture doesn't even look like her. If you look at some other older pictures, the difference isn't as shocking.

I don't really see her having plastic surgery as really going against her so called principles. She has always been into makeup, fashion and how she looks.

To me, feminism is about guaranteeing women equal rights in employment and having the freedom to do any job they want and not be forced to just be a wife and mother as well as being free from sexual and physical abuse by men.

To me it has very little to do with wearing makeup or having plastic surgery or how you chose to look.

When it comes to plastic surgery, there is so much hypocrisy by people. Everyone is quick to jump on a celebrity who has had work done and say they shouldn't have done that. But when on the rare occasion they see a celebrity in their forties or fifties whose face has been left untouched, they attack them for not "aging well" and looking old. You can't have it both ways but people want to. They want people to look young forever, but they don't want them to do anything to their face.

I would've never known this was the same person. The before shot is beautiful and the after shot is not. She looks much less attractive in the after shot. Of course, this is just my opinion, but really, you'd have to be blind not to see what I mean.

I think people should grow old gracefully or get good plastic surgery. Getting shitty surgery is very distracting, as you can see from this thread.

Agreed. I Loooooovvvvveee Tori. She is a musical genius and I have loved her since the very beginning but it is soooooo disappointing to see that she is so vain (and that her vanity has fucked her face up) I mean, before the facelift, even though she was older, she was still gorgeous. I really looked at her as an inspiration. That you could be older, not neccesarily perfect and still gorgeous. But now she looks crazy. And she's become obsessed with designer garb. She wrote that dumbass song "ode to my clothes" which is about her housekeeper accidentaly giving her bag of designer clothes meant for the drycleaners to charity. Starts out, "Somewhere there's a Prada bag......" Get the fuck out of here. What happened to her? eek

The thing that is so obnoxious about it is that Tori Amos's platform since the very beginning is "I am flawed and batshit crazy but I'm worthy and sexy" and that's where alot of her following comes from, that's why when you go to her shows there's always these really big 400 lb. girls who've dyed their hair red - because they feel such a kinship with her. And she's always played that to the hilt- so it seems a little hypocritcal when, with the first sign of a wrinkle she runs out and gets "the works". Like Prince, I've found her to be a bit of a hypocrit. She also always played up that "recovering Christian" stuff and then you find out her kids in private catholic school? She just comes across as a hypocrit lately. And she keeps referring to herself as a MILF. She's getting on my fucking nerves with her big headed hypocritcal self.
