Radiohead Premieres New Track, "Staircase"

June 21, 2011

Link

Radiohead debuted a brand new song called "Staircase" in their appearance on the BBC concert program From the Basement, which will air in full on July 1st.

The band released the tune early on their YouTube page this morning for no apparent reason other than to thrill their fans with something fresh. Like a lot of the music on the band's most recent album The King of Limbs, "Staircase" is heavy on atmospheric synths and busy, skittering beats, but the tone is a bit more easygoing and relaxed this time around. The band was joined for the performance by second drummer Clive Deamer, who is best known for his work with Robert Plant and Portishead.

This sounds like an outtake from, "In Rainbows".

On the other hand, at least its two threads that aren't about R&B from the 60s to the 90s, or about how bad somebody sucks. lol

I actually kinda like this song, and I can't even really get into Radiohead usually. eek

Ow cool! Sounds a little bit unfinished lyric wise but
other than that it's great.

Loving this whole King Of Limbs era with the 2 tracks
that were released on recordstore day as bonus and now
this one. Yay.

Now fingers crossed for an Atoms For Peace release in
the fall/winter.

Looking forward to watching In The Basement when it shows up on the net. Don't have the BBC channel.

In addition to playing the whole King Of Limbs album, Radiohead will be playing non-album tracks Supercollider, Staircase and The Daily Mail. Another new song! Nice.cool

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I would love that, but there is pretty much no chance that Flea would be involved and I think he played a major part in the badassery of that band. The RHCP will be busy for at least the next year and a half. Still, I would love to hear it. Or another TY solo album. Or another Radiohead EP... I mean album. lol

I think that album, if there is one, is already finished by now.

Thom spent quite a while in the studio with Nigel earlier this
year, just after the release of TKOL.

Flea could be all over it, bit he just wouldn't be able to tour
the material.

Than again, AFP already toured a lot and they are now both kind
of in the middle of major releases with their own bands, but it
wouldn't be completely unthinkable that one day, a few months
from now, the webshop at atomsforpeace.co.uk all of a sudden has
an ep or short album for sale.

There's more stuff to come, that's for sure. Either from thom
solo or from radiohead.

Love the way they released TKOL, with the universal sigh and
then the 12" SC/TB and now The Daily Mail and Staircase.

I'm hoping that Skirting on the Surface will surface soon too.

Radiohead Announce Next Remix 12″

The second installment of Radiohead’s limited-edition four-part King Of Limbs 12″ Remix Series will feature electro head Nathan Fake, aka Border Community, taking on “Morning Mr. Magpie” and legendary Australian electro producer/DJ/etc Mark Pritchard doing two mixes of “Bloom,” one under his own name and one as his Harmonic 313 alias. Should be trippy. It’s out 7/14. Get more info at Phonica Records, though looks like they’ve already sold out over there.

Cerebus is very much looking forward to this 12" as he digs Nathan Fake and Mark Pritchard.

It's a really nice number. I'm hoping we get a studio take on this.

But .. is it me, or does some of the band look, erhm .. bored?
