Janelle Monae has begun working on the follow up to 2010’s The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III).

She told MTV she was working on new material whilst on tour with Bruno Mars.

Monae revealed: "This album will have very strong concepts and bigger ideas and the music will just go forward to another level."

"It will still be, I believe, relatable to the people," she said. "We have really big ideas, I must say, and we’re just trying to make sure we execute them properly."

She added she was: “recording, writing, (and) playing instruments,” for the new album.

Monae didn’t reveal if the album’s theme would follow the exploits of her Cindi Mayweather character, but she did say that: "The concepts will be very strong. That’s really what I can say… I don’t plan on stopping the formula or stopping myself from creating new formulas. My message is that I want to reach the people – the people who work each and every day."

"I want to create music that will be their choice of drug whenever they feel oppressed or depressed. (I want to) create something that will remain timeless, hopefully, and the next generation can be inspired by it."

I am looking forward to hearing new music from her. I just saw her perform last week. She is great as a comceptual artist but she needs perform in venues that do her show justice and not perform with Bruno Mars and his shrieking crowds of teenybopper girls.

That is a pity (about the teenybopper crowd).

She has played a large amount of her own headlining shows though.

I have seen her 3 times in the last year, audiences were ecstatic (in an adult kind of way), I could not be doing with seeing anyone with a ton of screaming youths.

I'm interested to see where she goes next musically, she fascinates me. I loved "Violet Stars Happy Hunting" and "Tightrope".

Plus, she's so damn purdy.

Grenade is good musically and he is talented, but the lyrics are pathetic.

And I hope Janelle's new album sounds like Wondaland! That will be like a musical acid trip!

I am going to see her live this Sunday!! I'm super excited!!

Yes, it will be interesting to see where she goes next with her music. I like the track "Wondaland", "Tightrope", "Dance or Die" and "Cold War". I wish her the best.

I like Bruno's lyrics. Straight, simple and to the point. They are easily relatable. No trying to be deep and prestentious.

I used to want to spend time with her. But more and more, I just want to be her.

I'm blasting her 'The archAndroid' album right now. What a brillian, brilliant album that is. She is so underrated.

Indeed, she is. I would just like to see her show in a venue with good sound that didn't overwhelm her vocals on some of the songs and not with a crowd of restless teenagers waiting to scream at Bruno Mars' cute grin!

ArchAndroid was great. Hope this one will be too.

Her last album is barely a year old. It's not like it's been years since she released something.

OK, this one doesn't make any sense but here goes:

This girl has more talent and creativity then the biggest pop acts right now. I can't wait for her next album hopefully she will contine her conecpt of Metropolis and continue to stay herself and with the tuxedo.

I don't follow her as closely as some folks but wasn't her band also working on an album? Any word on it?

Sadly, I think the greater pressure will be for her to change her hair, not release a strong product...
