I must say I've been waiting for a new Sly album for many years but I don't

see the point of re-doing the same old hits again and call it a new album.

I wonder if we'll see a new album with brand new songs.

Or at least stuff from the vault that has'nt been released.

I don't like the idea of remakes either, but I also cringe at the thought of Sly trying to do "new" music. Doing remakes is safe, and there needs to be a lot of safety where Sly is concerned.

lol

There are 3 new tunes on the CD. you can hear parts of all cuts on amazon .com. Something is better than nothing! I dont know if he has resolved the legal problems with his former manager.

Put Larry (Graham) & Sly in the SAME room, and starighten this shit out BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!! They're all STILL ALIVE & have worked TOGETHER on & off, with the exception of Larry & Sly.

PLEASE.........STRAIGHTEN IT OUT!!!!!!! R & B Music NEEDS 2 see THIS!!!!!

You are right! Their differences need to be ironed out and their egos need to be checked at the door or it will never get done. Black music needs a "super band" that will be innovative, inspiring, and motivating once again.

Checked out the samples.
Unfortunately, wasn't impressed. I wanted to be.
That is, except for the re-mixes that I knew I would hate going in.
They did not fail to disappoint.

One funny ad-lib from Bootsy during Hot Fun In The Summertime.

Agreed there needs to be a lot of safety where Sly is concerned. From what I have seen and heard of the man in recent years, he still has something of that voice, but he remains a highly erratic performer.

Maybe this album could best be viewed as a kind of idealised Sly 'live in the studio' greatest hits concert album. It certainly reminds me of how great his classic stuff was.

To risk controversy,it does sound quite funky in places. One would think he must have at least an album's worth of cool unreleased jams either from his golden era and/or done over the last 30+ years, he could release/ rerecord those, rather than just put out three new songs (well, two as one does like a gospel song remake wink )

I'm amazed he's managed to get Jeff Beck to play on it, let alone Bootsy. Jeff did work with Mr S Wonder back in the day, so it's kinda cool he's now hooked up with Sly.

I dont think SLY will waste his time if he wasn't about to get back in the limelight of the music business and having special guests and family members on the CD is a testing of the waters so to speak.

Those hard drugs Sly used to take has stripped him of any ounce of original music creativity. sad

Cool. "Hot fun in the Summertime" has always been and still is my favorite from the Sly Stone Family.
