McCartney & McCartney II Expanded Reissues (June 2011) [img:$uid]http://i51.tinypic.com/32zhwgl.jpg[/img:$uid]
April 27, 2011
Official press release:
Heralded as one of the most beloved solo debuts of all time, McCartney, the smash # 1 album, originally released April of 1970, yielded the timeless tracks "Every Night" and "Junk" along with the immortal classic "Maybe I'm Amazed."
McCartney II originally issued in May of 1980 was McCartney's return to solo work after nine years touring and having released several massively successful albums with Wings. Reaching #1 in the UK, and #3 in the U.S., the album produced enduring classics such as "Coming Up," "Waterfalls," & "Temporary Secretary."
For collectors, the reissue will additionally be made available as a lavishly packaged 3 disc (2 CD, 1 DVD) Deluxe Edition which includes an exclusive bonus DVD featuring rare and previously unseen footage, an extraordinary 128-page hard bound book containing many exclusive and unpublished photos by Paul and Linda McCartney, original album artwork, downloadable hi-res audio versions of the remastered album and bonus audio tracks, an illustrated history of the making of the album, and expanded track by track information for the two audio discs as well as detailed historical information on the film content.
The bonus audio CD includes the #1 hit "Coming Up (Live At Glasgow, 1979)" and holiday perennial "Wonderful Christmastime."

I was holding back on getting Band on the Run until I saw what they were going to do with the other albums in the series. I figured that, if the full deluxe release with the book was just for BOTR, and the others didn't offer that as an option, then I should just get the cheaper version of BOTR. Now I have to decide whether to splurge for these expensive ones.
I'm starting to hope that Prince never does release those remasters, because most of my music budget may be eaten up by stuff like this. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Drumming on a toilet. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Nice, but I wish he'd just start at the beginning and go chronologically * * *

I guess he's doing "Paul" albums, not "Wings". You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Paul released a deluxe version of Band a few years ago for an anniversary also. Concord is releasing his entire post-Beatles catalog, including Wings, in apparent random order.

Even Percy Thrillington and The Fireman? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm looking forward to some of the 80s stuff, especially 'Tug of War' and 'Pipes of Peace'

Since there's Wonderful Christmas Time, where's the B-side Rudolph The Red Nosed Reggae? I think we're likely to see "Rudolph" added as a bonus cut onto the Back To The Egg expanded.

What a a great set.
Prince, please take note. Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

That was recorded in 1975 along with "Lunch Box-Odd Sox", the b-side to "Coming Up", so those two will probably pop up on the Venus and Mars remaster.

Well, these are out today, and I picked mine up.
Fondly enjoyed "McCartney" - odd little album of home recordings, ad-libbed instrumentals, song snippets, plus the classic "Maybe I'm Amazed".
"McCartney II" is mostly brutally awful.
But the sound and packing of these reissues are really nice; "McCartney" is just draw-dropping in clarity and warmth.
Anybody else pick these up? * * *
