Is this Tyrone Davis set worth 5 dollas?

Give It Up (Turn It Loose): The Very Best of the Columbia Years

Down at the Wal-Mart, this comp is $5. I don't have anything from later in his career, just the early stuff like "Can I Change My Mind." This period is from the late 70s to early 80s I believe. I wonder if it's similar to Gene Chandler's disco/steppin' music also from around this time as I like Gene's stuff?

My mom has one of Tyrone's Columbia albums, but I don't remember what it sounds like. In The Mood was from the Columbia era too. I think the albums are out of print, so this is a good deal. His last records are on Malaco.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'll get it the next time I step in Wal-Mart, I'mpretty sure it will still be there.

Give It Up is on the record my mom has. It was a disco like song if I remember correctly.

In The Mood

Close To You

Leave Well Enough Alone

Give It Up (Turn It Loose)

This I Swear
Ain't Nothing I Can Do
Get On Up (Disco)
Heart Failure

...Not bad for 5 bucks. A lot of the classics are missing.

Can I Change My Mind
A Woman Needs To Be Loved
Turning Point
Is It Something You've Got
It's So Good (To Be Home With You)
Turn Back The Hands Of Time
I Wish It Was Me

..but those mentioned above are worth the $5.

Most of those songs you say are missing were on Dakar, not Columbia.

Finally went to Wal-Mart, but I didn't pick this collection up. There was another Tyrone set, a more complete set from Rhino for just 2 more dollaz, so I got that one.
