JANET-Come Give Your Love To Me This is such an underrated track from her first album. Love the new-wave-ish synths in the background
JDilla sampled it in his song "Glamour Sho75 (09)". It's on the posthumously released "Jay Stay Paid"

If A&M had more faith in Janet during those years, she might've had a top 40 hit with this song (and "Young Love").

This one definately had early '80s top 40 written all over it. "Get up off that grey line"

Her first two CDs has some nice cuts. Come Give Your Love To Me, The Magic Is Working, Young Love, Don't Stand Another Chance, Fast Girls, Hold Back The Tears...they're hot songs. "Get up off that grey line"

What I always wanted to know is why the CD version of the 1st album has the maxi single remix of Say You Do instead of the version that was on the original record. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ask the same folks who replaced the original "Jump to It" with the 12" inch on the CD issues of "Jump to It".

Not ashamed to admit I'd be shaking my ass to it! Especially with Michael and 'em cuttin' up in the background alongside their baby sis.

This was the hit of the album. Everything else was just kind of blah. I was listening to Janet on my Ipod and I skipped around until it hit on this song....listened to it a few times.

I LOVE that song! I think it should have been a hit back to back with Beat It. Her first two albums were overshadowed by Thriller and other Jacksons IMO.

Her pre Control stuff is criminally underrated!! Some of these tracks have that 80's Prince vibe to em, I love her 2 early albums . Hey baby! Don't get me in here actin' silly now! You're not taping this are you... ????

Yeah her first album sounds like a girly off the wall to me a little bit, and on the second album I hear so many Prince influences, though also Jacksons/MJ, especially on the Marlon produced tracks. I think she sounds better vocally on the songs than on Control, where her singing is more stylized.

She sounds so much like MJ on Love and my best friend, its eerie . Hey baby! Don't get me in here actin' silly now! You're not taping this are you... ????

Jesse Johnson produced two of the Dream Street cuts, hence the Minneapolis/Prince vibe. "Get up off that grey line"

I agree. There are lots of times on many of her albums when I have to do a double-take because she sounds so much like MJ "Get up off that grey line"

I think the last song I truly thought she sounded like Michael on was Daybreak from 20 y.o. When she went in her upper register I was like wtf...Michael? ??? She is still so underrated as a vocalist, probably always will be . But at least her true fans appreciate her . Hey baby! Don't get me in here actin' silly now! You're not taping this are you... ????

There's a song from Michael's second album, Ben called "What Comes Around Goes Around" and there's parts where you could've sworn it's Janet "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

i really love this song. Its so cute.
The older janet gets the more she sounds like her brother, which is hard to listen to her recent stuff, especially off the discipline album it makes me sad.
