Best Hair Bands of all Time...

So I was Youtubing Cinderalla songs last night and was like, wait, these guys were pretty good! But Im biased because it's nostalgic for me... And then it turns out the lead singer of Cinderella Tom Keifer is like this rad blues guitar player, and he can sing awesomely (like AC/DC frontman Dave Evans).... I had totally forgot about them. They still tour and are selling albums!

Who was/ is your favorite Hair Band?

For me, Bon Jovi and Def Leopard are my favorite hair bands. There were some good ones, though.

Agree. Perhaps a better thread would be BON JOVI vs. DEF LEPPARD.

But what about Guns n Roses and Tesla....IDK...I think the cheesy image may have gotten in the way of some honestly good rock and roll bands...

I liked DOKKEN a lot... mainly for George Lynch. I admit to being more of a Thrash Metal kid, so these Hair Metal guys were supposed to be the enemy, but there was some good stuff there now that I look back.

Def Leppard doesn't like to be considered a Hair band, but Pyromania helped spearhead the whole movement and I love that record.

I guess Whitesnake morphed into a Hair band towards the late 80's. I LOVE the 1987 disc.

And WINGER...shamefully underrated and ridiculed... but, those guys are awesome. Good looking guys, top notch musicianship, slick Pop/Metal and sophisticated ballads.

WARRANT!! My dad bought me a Warrant CD because he knew I liked Metal. Only problem was, the Metal I liked was Slayer, Metallica and Megadeth.. He didn't know the difference. He thought all those dudes with the long hair were all the same. LOL! But, I ended up liking Warrant a lot once I gave them a chance. People laugh now, but the white leather and syncronized moves were pretty awesome showmanship---coming from a Prince fan.

OMG, that's right..now I have to go and Youtube all these bands...it totally takes me back. I was a Black Sabbath/ Metallica Head as well and these "hair" bands were definitely taboo...but you're right, listening to it now, there was some good stuff in there. I kind of miss this Rock and Roll attitude, where is it these days? yeah, I guess we like the showmanship...lol! This really all started because I was trying to find a good video of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and a video of Tesla doing an acoustic cover popped up. I checked it out and thought it was great, they did the song justice.

I feel like the Black Crows are babies of these bands..

On another note i am a HUGE Whitesnake fan but they started as a blues band The Whitesnake 87 album & Slip Of The tongue where the only hair etalesque albums the group did.

Some may say it started with Slide It In but there lot's of bluesy rockers on there so i don't see it as a hair metal album at all.

Some of the songs from that era Here I Go Again, Bad Boys, Still Of The Night, Is This Love, Now Your Gone, Judgement Day, Give Me All Your Love, Children Of The Night do have that hair metal sound but Coverdales voice bring's up to another level...

Damn that man can sing cool

The first two Motley Crue records still blow me away. For a band with a crappy singer, poor bass player, average guitarist and fairly decent drummer, they were the most insane rock n roll machine for a few years there. Great songs and a suicide mission. It was so much FUN up until Theatre of Pain lol

Neither Bon Jovi nor Def Leppard were hair bands. They had hair and they were cheesy, but they're still a long way from Mötley Crüe. Thousands of miles, really.

Does the Scorpions count? Then again they were losing their hair.

Nope. Again, hairy and cheese does not alone make a hair band.

so what, by your definition, makes a "Hair Band"? Where does the line get drawn? Im really just curious...there is no sarcasm in this post (gotta make this clear on the ORG)
