country music lovers who lives country music?
i like the old stuff from the 70s, the classic stuff. they used to play it on the radio on sundays in scotland. johnny cash, kenny rogers, dolly parton (who i'm watching on telly now) and stuff like that. songs that tell a story, and the slide guitar and fiddles
i'm not so much into new stuff but i love taylor swift, and there's stuff like sherly crow kid rock and lady antebellum that's crossover countrypop/rock
and going back to chill out music in the late 80s/early 90s, such as chillout by KLF, it's got that pedal steel guitar on it. apparently astronauts used to listen to country music up in space as on a clear night looking across the praries from sky they could make out campfires burning
it's a style of music i so regularly see people saying they hate, but why do people hate it? i also see people saying they hate hip hop or autotune rnb, which i can maybe understand a bit more. i'm not a fan of reggae, it's one of the few types of music apart from heavy metal that i can't get into, but even then there's stuff i do like, such as a bit of bob marley and a bit of dub, and i like when bands like the clash did reggae stuff, just not the awful ub40 and shabba ranks crap. most of it all sounds the same to me
so who likes it, and who hates it. and what do you think makes you hate it?
and achy breaky heart isn't country. it's just shite. so don't go there. and neither is the daughter, so let's nip that in the bud before we start. johnny cash is considered cool isn't he? he covered depeche mode and nine inch nails, worked with dylan. i'd like to see prince play more country covers. can you imagine prince on pedal steel guitar? or signing about shooting a man just to watch him die? | |
