Beyonce on the cover of Essence Magazine

Beyonce looks picture perfect on the cover of Essence’s July issue.

The 29-year-old penned her very first cover story, “Eat, Play, Love,” opening up about how a nine-month break helped inspire her creativity.

Here’s what she shared with the mag: “I had talked about taking a vacation before, but always ended up in the studio after two weeks, so no one believed me. This time, though, I was serious. I was going to give myself a year to do the things I never get to do.”

“Simple things like play with my nephew, pick him up from school, visit museums, go to concerts, see some Broadway shows, learn to cook a meal and spend time with my husband … Yes, I needed some relaxation, but I wanted inspiration too, from regular everyday things,” she added.

In case you missed it, check out Beyonce’s new song “Best Thing I Never Had“!

All three singles released from the album are performing poorly on iTunes.

I don't smell a hit.

I think she's finally hit a wall.

We can only hope.

Eh!

It's true though anytime she says she's taking a break she just can't. It's alright B...a good time away will do you good...and then maybe you could even create some truly groundbreaking material for once who knows.

Idk but she should be starting to feel spent. She's been going nonstop for over a decade now, I would think all that would start to catch up to her at some point. But I think they put way too much eyeliner on her eyebrows for this cover lol

I knew there was something a little off about her face. Too dark and too penciled in.

How long before she dies her hair black, let's it grow into a kink and releases a full on r&b album produced by Rapheal Saddig and declares, "This is the real me." lol

...and then proceed to rip-off a Tracy Chapman music video and try to pass it off as "innovative".

Absoulutely... that cover is not very flattering to her my guess she didnt have final approval for the picture chosen... Out of all the pics taken why pick that one? Can't get over the eyebrows.

That would be cool. Would certainly look better than her hair does now.

Beyonce 4 Album Cover

Beyonce’s upcoming album “4″ kicks it old school with samples from hip-hop legends Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh, and harmonizing hitmakers Boyz II Men. While her “Run The World (Girls)” sample from Major Lazer was barely that (at just two years old), expect to hear some reminiscent classics on the rest of her tracks.

“Party,” features André 3000 and reportedly samples “La Di Da Di,” the 1985 classic by the hip-hop pioneers. The original record contains the unmistakable lyrics, “La di da di, we like to party.”

Boyz II Men’s slow jam “Uhh Ahh” also makes a cameo on “Countdown,” according to Sony Music’s German site.

Considering Beyonce boasted that she’d be making her “own genre” of music this time around, how do you feel about her sampling oldies?

Beyonce Goes Country, Nearly Nude for Essence Cover (Video)

By Boombox Editors Posted Jun 9th 2011 07:30PM
Beyonce brings it back to her Texan roots with a country-themed cover shoot for the July issue of Essence magazine.

In the behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, the Houston-born superstar, whose upcoming album '4'just leaked onto the Internet two weeks ahead of schedule, is one sexy cowgirl. Beyonce was shot for the mag hanging out in the haystacks, riding a white horse -- like the one in her 'Run the World (Girls)' music video -- and whipping around a lasso in bottom-less chaps.

Queen B looks great in a cowboy hat, but she looks even better posing next-to-nude in a tin washtub. B rocks a white swimsuit with her arms and super-toned legs draped over a tub in the middle of a field, which from some naughty camera angles make her look like a bathing beauty in the nude.

Beyonce's sexy editorial spread comes along with a personally penned cover story entitled 'Eat, Play, Love,' in which the songstress shares how her nine-month hiatus from the biz and dedication to enjoying the "simple," "regular everyday things" reignited her creativity and became a source of "inspiration."

Beyonce Covers 'Dazed & Confused' July 2011

Beyonce Covers 'Dazed & Confused' July 2011

Beyonce holds a melting ice cream cone on the cover of Dazed & Confused’s July issue.

The summer music special features the 29-year-old entertainer “in a scorching hot trailer park fantasy,” according to the mag.

Bey rocks outfits by Tom Ford,Riccardo Tisci, Gareth Pugh, Haider Ackermann, Stefano Pilati, and Marc Jacobs.

“I needed some time to live. I’ve been signed to the same label since I was 12 years old and never had more than a month and a half off since I was 13. I’ve worked so hard for so many years and just felt like, ‘Well, why not?’” she told Dazed & Confused about taking time away from the music industry.

Whats with the Kate Gosselin hairstyle? neutral I know she love blonde hair but that color + that style on her = disbelief The style would look good if her hair color was dark with some highlights imho.

This reeks of insecurity. She is in a position now of being able to take the time but she can't let go of the spotlight. Several top notch artists put a lot of time in between projects and still keep their fanbase. She's fully aware of her choices and probably even more aware of the motivations behind those choices. Instead of cluttering her catalog with mindless dance tracks that have no shelf life she should take the time off (a year or more) and come up with new collaborators and producers to help her craft something more substantial. Her voice deserves better material and everyone knows that but her and her camp.

Why this girl can't take a her big behind somewhere for a while and chill is beyond me....it's not that hard......and I believe she would probably most definately come up with more worth while material if she does...
