Richard Marx notches 16th Top20Hit with "When You Loved Me"

The great new single from Richard Marx, "When You Loved Me" from his 2cd 1dvd Walmart exclusive "Stories To Tell" collection, inches up to Number 18 on the AC charts giving Richard his 16th Top 20 hit and first Top 20 since 1998, when he peaked with "At the Beginning". Richard currently on a "strings/acoustic/band" tour stopping in england then hitting the states, has received great reviews on his current show and its musical re-works, richard's voice has NOT lost one step, on his new cd, you cant even tell he actually re-recorded songs like "Hold On to The nights" etc...not one note has changed, amazing for a 25 year gap to not lose a step in your vocals.

Richard has also gotten alot of great reviews for his humour about his past work and "look", while playing in england recently Richard did a song called "One Thing Left" from his overlooked 2004 album "My own best enemy" he called the song, the first "pu**y love song of the night" and also when he introduced the song being from "My Own Best enemy" the crowd applauded the album to which Richard Remarked..."Yeah Right...i bet if i go into your house right now, you dont have it on the shelf".

yeah really happy for this, i mean big deal he has nothing to prove etc...but its cool that he is jumping into a top 20 that is flooded with Katy Perry and others, then theres Richard Marx. Check out the "edited" remarks i added to the original post about his humour at a recent show.

Not interested much in anything past his first 4 albums, but I do like some of his work alot.

It's also cool to see he has a sense of humour too. Richard is a contradiction as where he is obviously quite funny in real life and interviews etc... but his songs are anything but LOL. On the other end you have Prince and Eminem for example, who make music and lyrics that can be quite funny but they both seem anything but in real life and interviews LOL.

Been rocking "ride with the idol" alot recently. Should of made "Rush Street" as it's one of my fav songs he has done, but it's only a b side on the "Take this heart" cd single

I pretty much like all his records, i think production wise hes much better now, he said i despises "Satisfied" for its production and till now wouldnt even play it, but on the new record its really the only song he re-arranged totally, sped it up, great version.

As for his humour, hes a trip, and i think thats why im there for his work more because as even he said, he feels that there are GREAT artists but they never collaborate, he feels hes NOT GREAT but hes great at collaborating with others and that is very true judging his track record with writing and being on others albums. This is the flaw of say Prince, not a bad thing, just a flaw in his character.

Yeah, Richard has (or had on the records I own) always used the top session musicians of the day and does use co-writers aswell (Kenny Loggins and Peter Cetera did this too). Iam sure he learned skills like how to surround yourself with top musicians under his tutorage from David Foster, who now openly and embarassingly admits to telling Richard straight to his face that he would never make it as a singer and only as a songwriter for hire LOL.

I like this track he did for Paul Anka, before he was famous called "somebody loves you". It's MOR, but I ama sucker for Humberto Gattica's and Robbie Buchanan's super glossy production back then (Humberto produced a few cuts off Richard's debut aswell).

I think the guy is getting quite a bit of respect nowadays honestly then a decade ago when i heard him being made of a lot.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
