I wish it had too. It would've made a good last single from TVR album.

She went against the label's wishes to do the song. They wanted her to do "Go Deep" but she wanted "What About". At the end, she stood up for herself and did "What About" and it ended in a standing ovation.

Yeah as much as I love "Go Deep," a video and single for "What About" would have made an enduring impact on people, especially domestic abuse victims. That video would've been deep as hell!

I LOVE this video and song so much, I remember the night I taped it when it aired here and watching it for ages, and then she accepted the award for GTIG. And that hairstyle and makeup was so awesome, I was copying it for a bit smile It would have been great for abuse victims, issues around V.A.W. interest me, and I didn't realize it then, but Janet was such a good role model for women standing up for themselves and not putting up with this shit.

This could have definately been released after "Everytime". It's a complete contrast from that song, and Janet would have just killed it. She, Tina and Shawn WERKED that runway!

I love Janet to bits, but, I haven't seen that fierce, warrior look in her eyes since she performed the MJ tribute at the VMA'S, I still adore her, and will always continue to support her, but fans cannot be sheep, I think you guys know what I mean.

"Go deep" is nice groove, but it's not really exciting.....this song on the other hand rocks!

It also suits much better the vibe of the album.

I remember back in 1997 when she was given the Lena Horne Award on the Lady of Soul Awards, they played an instrumental version of "What About" during a video montage. I didn't know what it was at the time, because The Velvet Rope hadn't yet come out, but I knew that it was one funky tune.
