Psychedelic Funk

I'm in the mood to listen to some good old school psychedelic funk. The kind of funk has tweaked out like some really weird P-Funk type stuff. Or maybe some experimental Earth, Wind and Fire type stuff.

Can anyone recommend some good weird space funk albums to listen to?

Off the top of my head...

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

Funkadelic - Free Your Mind....

Eddie Hazel - Games, Dames & Guitar Thangs

Fuzzy Haskins - Whole Nother Thang

Bernie Worrell -- All The Woo In The World

Sly and the Fam Stone -Stand!

The Isley Brothers -- The Isleys Live, especially "Ohio"

Temptations - Psychedelic Shack

Kool and the Gang -- Love & Understanding, especially "Summer Madness"

Earth Wind and Fire - Another Time

James Brown - Hell

Stevie Wonder - Secret Life of Plants

Ohio Players - Fire (all their stuff is uniquely psychedelic, IMHO)

Curtis Mayfield -- Sweet Exodus

Thank you very much!! Are these all album titles or song titles? I love listening to whole albums.

^ yes, these are albums.

I would also suggest early 70s Miles Davis:

- A Tribute To Jack Johnson

- On The Corner

- Agharta

- Pangaea

And nothing merits "psychedelic funk" more than Bootsy and his Space Bass:

Genius list! I own every one of these albums (excluding Fuzzy and Bernie's albums), but I would personally like to add:

The Temptations: Psychedelic Soul (2-CD anthology)

The Impressions: Check Out Your Mind!

Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys, First Rays of the New Rising Sun

Sly & The Family Stone: A Whole New Thing, Dance to the Music, Life, There's A Riot Goin' On

James Brown: Soul on Top, The Payback

Earth, Wind & Fire: Earth, Wind & Fire, The Need of Love, Last Days And Time, Head to the Sky

Eddie Kendricks: People...Hold On

War: War, All Day Music, The World Is A Ghetto

Stevie Wonder: Music of My Mind, Where I'm Coming From

Curtis Mayfield: Curtis, Curtis/Live!, Roots, Superfly, Back to the World

Funkadelic: All of their stuff from 1970-1976

The Jackson 5: G.I.T.: Get It Together, Third Album, ABC, Maybe Tomorrow, Skywriter

Shuggie Otis: Inspiration Information

Bootsy: Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!, Stretching Out In Bootsy's Rubber Band, Glory B Da Funk's On Me!: The Bootsy Collins Anthology (2-CD anthology)

Return To Forever: The Anthology

Also check out this band I'm trying to get into named Rare Earth. Can somebody tell me give me some albums to check out by them?

i'd recommend any of the norman whitfield produced temptations albums...

on the more contemporary side, i think erykah badu's '4th world war' is pretty funky. and her sometimes cohorts sa-ra creative partners' 'hollywood recordings' album is straight psych-funk, although more towards the hip-hop end of the spectrum.
