There was an amazing 2-part documentary on Queen on BBC2 a few days ago and someone posted the full doc on Youtube - check it out if you have any interest in Queen and/or Freddie Mercury - a lot of rare footage and "new" info that I never knew before despite being a huge Queen fan.
Part 1 (covers the period from the beginning of Queen in 1971 to the Game album in 1980):
Part 2 (1980-present day):

I happened to catch those documentaries on bbc when they were on tv. Some great stuff. My only complaint was that they were not long enough. Especially "a kind of magic" and "the miracle" were only discussed very briefly and they're my two favorits along with "innuendo". and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Thanks! I still miss ole Freddy! What a kinetic stage presence and an amazing performer. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I love riding in my vehicle on the way to work when the radio station I always listen to plays "Bohemian Rhapsody." When the DJ man plays "Another one bites the Dust," the rhythms energize my day. When these songs come on, I turn up the sound alap (look in my rear-view mirror intermittently for the riders in blue) and enjoy the way Freddie's voice dances over the instruments. QUEEN GREATNESS is still alive and well. Yes, I appreciate the life our individual God gave to the man FREDDIE MERCURY,

I just caught up with that documentary and had tears streaming down my face at the end. I remember becoming a big Queen fan when Freddie died (I was only 10). In the same way people always remember where they were when Kennedy was shot, the 3 I will always remember are Freddie Mercury, Princess Diana and Michael Jackson.
I'd love to see the big Wembley tribute concert again as I only saw it once on TV at the time.

That was a great documentary. Just wish it was longer as Queen's history is so long and interesting LOL.
Great that they mentioned "hot space" and how Taylor didn't like it LOL. Also great that they mentioned how dumb MTV were banning one of their best videos "I want to break free", despite playing other effeminate videos like Motley Crue, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake etc.. at the time. I guess as Queen actually dressed up in drag as just opposed to looking like they did was seen as too offensive for MTV? Ridiculous and that killed them forever in the US.
Also surprised they touch on the Sun city thing. I think I saw a clip of Hall and Oates calling them out at the time. Bad move by Queen, though as they (or probably Freddie) had said, they were never, ever a political band. Still a dubious thing to do at the time though.
