I'm just concerned about the Susan Lucci, Martin Scorsese, Diana Ross syndrome. The politics and the timing of these types honors can be tricky. I'd hate for Mr. Withers consideration to get caught up in always a groomsman never a groom, sort of speak. At the same time I hope he's honored before he has one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel too. I don't know, I'm conflicted.

Who dislikes Patti? Look, I work in politics. I've worked for a US Congressmember and have worked with US Presidents, Speaker of the House, State and local polititicians. I would advice any politician to stay clear of Patti till this issue gets resolved. It has nothing to do with her personally and everything to do with smart politics.

Absolutely, the Kennedy Center Honors is absolutely political with both a lower case p and a capital P.
