I can think of these:
Laurnea, "Infatuation" (She actually sing and sound like Prince)
Duran Duran, "Skin Trade" (Hah, is that Simon le Bon doing a Prince impersonnation or what?)
[Edited 6/4/11 17:44pm]
Sam Sparro, "Hot Mess"

Brian McKnight's "Love of My Life", Alicia's "Like You Never See Me Again" and Marsha Ambrosius' "Late Nights and Early Mornings". [Edited 6/4/11 18:02pm]

You know what I love this thread because I hear Prince's influence in so much music. Most of it not obvious links. Shut up already, damn.

I have to agree with u and mplsfunq, there is distinctive Prince sound other than the minneapolis sound..hence because it is the most recognizeble Prince sound of his creation. All those other songs he posted
We know that Prince has an array of music; however the Prince sound...IS THE Minneapolis Sound. U cannot really expand beyond that. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

This had alot of Prince and a little bit of The Time in here. I love it.

For whatever reason, I hear a little bit of that Andre Cymone in there somewhere also.

I know the song don't have any of the prince sound but, the last like 40 seconds does. It's been said that questlove along a few others recorded that at Paisley Park and they used some of Prince's old equipment that was in the basement.

I hear a little bit of Prince along with some of that Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal in there.

I like this. It also kinda has that Gap Band "Early in the Morning" feel to it. "Get up off that grey line"

Please be more specific. There's too many artists that she's taking from for one in particualr to stand out. [Edited 6/10/11 7:59am]

Yes, he played on that song not the last 40 seconds.

Beck's "Debra" off of Midnight Vultures sounds so much like a Prince track that I always considered it an homage. A few other songs on that album seem to have a Prince influence, but none as obvious as that one. "There is two kinds of music, the good, and the bad. I play the good kind."

Shango done beat me to it. Nobody sounds like Prince more than Ebonee Webb and Bobby Nunn. Andy is a four letter word.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Ebonee Webb for sure with Something About You, Anybody Wanna Dance, and Here My Love Is. Micheal Winston had a nice falsetto. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

@Janet Well her producers were 2 members of The Time
@Michael: Dangerous (Which has Why You Wanna Trip On Me and In The Closet) as a whole has that Prince sound. The 1st time I ever heard Supafly Sister (surprisingly it was on the radio once) I thought it was Prince attemting Camille again lol
