To me, she's no different than Ke$ha, Britney or Katy Perry. I still haven't figured out what the difference is. Their music is interchangeable. They all make insanely catchy pop music with boring vocals.

Gaga could sing, play and write sophisticated lyrics, those 3 have weak voices. Same genre, different style completely, and in fact, it's an insult to put her in their category. I don't love every single song, but she is a great entertainer and has some good ones

If you're gonna say gaga can sing, so can Katy Perry. They have similar vocal style.

And I'm glad someone brought up Beyonce. Why compare gaga's talent to Kesha, Brit or Rihanna when Beyonce gets questioned of her singing skill and compared to Mariah and Whitney all the time? Why not compare Gaga's vocal control and range to Christina Adele or even Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood? Anyone can "sing" when compared to Kesha

lol agree gaga and beyonce overrated

If you ask me they are ALL overrated but in terms of accolades Gaga does not receive that much. Sure she gets hyped up but there aint nobody calling her the queen of anything or the next Madonna or MJ. i think it is fair to say Beyonce is the most overrated from this bunch I exactly find her to be more overrated and irritating that Gaga. While I dont care for her at least she plays an instrument and attempts to write her own music whether its recyled 80's or not.

I think anyone who thinks she's the patron saint and saving grace of modern music, overrates her. At the same time, I think a lot of the people that think she has absolutely no talent and that her work is shit, totally underrate her and don't give her the credit she deserves.

I remember, back in the days, when I was a teenager and became a fan of Prince, there were the same comments about him as what I read about lady GaGa here.

My stephdad, a musician himself, just hated Prince. The only positive thing he could say is that Prince was able to make it look that his guitarplay was easy to do, whilst actually, it demanded a pretty high level of skill in guitar play to pull that off biggrin

Madonna was under the same scrutiny, she couldn't sing, was theatrical and only in there as a commercial act. Pushed by the recordcompany to make a big buck. That's what was said of Madonna when she started out with her career.

I'm sorry, but I think Lady GaGa is a true artist. Just wait and see. She'll be around the next few decades.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I wonder what gave you the impression that Lady Gaga attempts to write her own music and Beyonce doesn't? Last time I checked all the songs on BTW album were co-written except one song, and Beyonce has been credited to co-write most of her songs and co-produce them as well.

Well, she deserves her Madonna comparisons. The music is just okay, but she is obviously brilliant at marketing herself (or has hooked up with someone who is).

She is not even slightly overrated in that department.

Gaga co-produces songs too.

So did Beyonce on Sasha Fierce album. Gaga didn't co-produce the songs on her debut album except one or two songs I believe

I honestly don't believe that Beyonce has done as much producing of her songs as we think. But if she has, that would explain the wackness of her music. I'd take Lady GaGa musically anyday over Beyonce [But in the bedroom, it's most definitely vice-versa lol lol lol ]!!

Probably because Lady Gaga actually writes her material and Beyonce does not.

I just feel there are better artist that have albums that deserve a millions copies sold in a week than her [Janelle Monae]. I don't get where her music is that good....

Janelle Monae woud probably find more success if she would attempt to sing her songs on key sometimes. At least Lady Gaga can do that.

She has talent.

But judging from her singles it seems she only makes one genre of music.

Pop dance.
Which is liked by young kids.

It's what has been ruling the charts.

All these songs can be by anyone having a hit these days.

Do you seriously hear a big difference between :
Lady gaga

Katy Perry

Kesha
Pink

Usher
Chris Brown
Black eyed peas

Britney Spears

Far east movement

Lmfao

I can go on and on

Same thing happened to (commercial) house music.
all sounds the same.
They found a recipe for success and will ride it till it doesnt sell anymore.

Good thing there's still the good underground shit.

So turn off your radio if you dont wanna hear it.

Lady gaga overrated?
Definitely by the people that buy her music.

If her musical output was as diverse as her wardrobe it would have been a different story.

I think the "G" in the caricature that is Gaga is stands for "gimmick." And even though this oddity may have talent behind the meat dresses and Hannibal Lector costumes, I don't respect it. Nothing about this alien is appealing AFAIC.

I'm not a fan, so I don't follow her music beyond what's played on the radio…but I've heard enough of her on the radio (and seen enough of her stupid videos and tacky award show antics) to get the gist of her. Nothing—and I do mean nothing—that she's come out with has at all impressed me to the point where I'm even the least bit interested in checking her out beyond the surface of that. I've not liked a single song she's released as a single, and I've probably heard them all. She sucks IMO.

Furthermore, I resent how she's downgraded the world of music. Her introduction allowed for other silly, inane cartoony crap like Katy Perry, LMFAO, Taio Cruz, Far East Movement, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha to come behind her and get spins with shallow music that's even worst than hers, all because it's "fun." And in the meantime how it's forced acts like Usher, Enrique, NeYo and Jennifer Lopez to have to rearrange (i.e. SELLOUT) their sound into something that is less authentic (and frankly inferior to their previous phases) in order to compete in the bizarre, erratic, shallow, sterile, thump-thump music world that Gaga led to prominence.

I, however, love the fact that she is SO OTT and blew up SO big and in SUCH a relatively short period of time, because that increases that odds of her burning out. The bigger they are and the quicker they rise, the harder and faster they fall. Right now she's coasting on popularity alone…but she can only burp and yelp to a tacky, industrialized beat and have it zoom to #1 on iTunes via the hype of her name for so long before that starts to crack. She is GOING to experience a public backlash (and I bet it begins to happen before the run of this album is over), and when that happens I bet it won't be pretty.
