I've never really could comment on Lady GaGa because I never really listened to any her her music. But when she moved over a million copies of her new album in a week, I decide to finally give her a listen. So, I downloaded her catalog [thus far] & spent the weekend listening to all of her stuff. IMHO, I feel she's overrated. I'm not saying she sucks or anything, but I don't see her appeal to the level of selling that many records. I honestly feel that she's also ripped off songs that were hits in 80's & 90's too. Her fashion sense doesn't even add up to her music either [imo]. I do respect the fact that she writes & co-writes her songs though.....

I'm prepared to be bashed [This won't the first time ] by all of you Lady GaGa lovers. So tell me your thoughts....Agree or Disagree?

I don't think her accountant thinks she's overrated. She makes more cash in one year than U2 in their entire carreer.

I have no problem with her making money. I just feel there are better artist that have albums that deserve a millions copies sold in a week than her [Janelle Monae]. I don't get where her music is that good....

Some people (like me) enjoy both Gaga and Janelle.

Is Gaga overrated? By who? She's definitely getting a ton of criticism.

I'm not a huge fan of modern "pop" music. I don't own any albums by Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha et cetera but there's something about Gaga's music that I really dig. For whatever reason she seems to appeal to a very broad group of people.

I love Lady Gaga. I've seen her live and heard the albums hundreds of times. And yes, she's incredibly overrated. But the only reason she generates so much hype is because almost everything happening now in pop, hip-hop, R&B, and rock music is fucking boring. Even the really good bands have stripped down to guitars, drums, and tube amps. They go on stage in t-shirts and jeans. The next-closest thing to Lady Gaga is Nicky Minaj, a Lil' Kim clone whose gimmick is a pink wig. Music needs Lady Gaga right now. We need her to wake everyone the hell up. And if doing that means her music gets more hype than it deserves, so be it.

I have a like/hate relationship with her. I appreciate that she TRIES to at least make music more exciting but at the same time she comes across as pretentious and believes in her own hype too much.

I Will say this, i do like her. But only in small doses i think the fame monster is a pretty good album and i was excited for Born This Way it had so much hype and i liked a lot of song's on the albums. I Am a bit tired of her now, she is EVERYWHERE and i have to get off her music for awhile but this happens with a lot of artists i like. tHat being said GaGa is a good musician but i am not a little monster i don't think she is INCREDIBLE or mind melting but she is talented. And look how many threads there are on the org about her! people keep hating but there is so many threads about her she is obviously ruffling a lot of feathers.

That's bullshit!! For one, her studio has soo many hands in her purse that even she is declaring that she is broke unlike U2 and other top stars. And her tour, which might have broken records wasn't that freaken big that she eclipsed U2 or Madonna or any of the other top acts.

Her 360 contract is screwing her because her studio has its hand in all of her ventures. From touring to tour merch to her nasty perfume and dog food. She's a fool for signing that contract and sadly she has set every other act that followers her to that same hell. It's a shame.

How so? U2 have sold butt loads millions of more albums then her's, and they just had the most successful tour of all time and you think GaGa earned more in one year then they did there entire career?

I think anyone who thinks she's the patron saint and saving grace of modern music, overrates her. At the same time, I think a lot of the people that think she has absolutely no talent and that her work is shit, totally underrate her and don't give her the credit she deserves.

I could see how people would call her overrated. She is the most famous entertainer right now and people are bound to get sick of her. Mixed in with her outfits and public shenanigans that seem to mask actual talent like some other so called "artists". I dont mind her zany outfits..that's how she chooses to express herself and seperate from others.....still can't get down with that meat dress but whatevs.

I thought she was overrated too till.. very recently when I caught live performances of her with just her and her piano. She blew me away and I really wish she would do an album like that. Just her and her piano.

She is a refreshing change from the current pop stars of today. I definately wouldn't lump her in the same category as them. Her first two albums were good and I see growth on the latest one for sure.

Time will tell if she can hold a 25+ year career and be worthy of the term icon but I think she is really talented.

It's all subjective though. I'm not a hardcore fan....and don't dig absolutely everything she does and if one has given a fair listen to her entire material and still feels she is not talented..that's their prerogative.

Gaga could sing, play and write sophisticated lyrics, those 3 have weak voices. Same genre, different style completely, and in fact, it's an insult to put her in their category. I don't love every single song, but she is a great entertainer and has some good ones

There is nothing wrong with 360 deals. They can be very beneficial. Any artist who signs ANY deal without a thorough understanding of it, IN THIS DAY AND AGE, is the fool. And I doubt Gaga has any problems with having a 360 deal.

Yes, the label takes a cut of live, merchandising, licensing of TV specials, etc...things that "traditionally" record label did not do.....but they also fund them now too. Who do you think foots the bill for Gaga's extravagant tours in the first place?

If anything, it makes the label work harder finding as many different tie-ins as possible in order to increase revenue streams.
