Pretty much everything he did with Toni Braxton, is classic.
A lot of his own solo stuff isn't bad either - "And Our Feelings", "For the Cool in You", etc....
And...I think it's thanks to him, that we got to hear Jon B. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

^ I like Never Forget you but this is my favorite Babyface/Mariah collaboration:
"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

^"Melt Away" just never clicked with me, it's among my least favs by him, alongside that track on MJ's Invincible.
This one is another gem, I never really got why Nellee Hooper produced it in the end, it doesn't sound like him:

Out of that last crop of videos, "Two Occasions" is the winner by far.

Two Occasions is definitely a classic, but I'll take any of the ballads on his first solo album over Two Occasions. I love "Lovers."
Also, "Where Will You Go" is one of my top favs from him.

I've pondered a few times how successful the "Dont' Be Cruel" lp would have been if it had been released as a Babyface album. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I don't think the title track would have worked with Babyface. I can't hear him singing those lyrics or dancing to that track.
I can hear him singing the ballads "Roni" and "Rock Witcha," though. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I can, easily. Maybe not rapping and stuff, but Bobby's vocals are true to Babyface's guides, just like Toni Braxton's used to be. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I agree. Do you think it would have worked with the tracks on "Bobby?" **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Yes, but Bobby's image, and the whole New Jack era in general, is what made that album hella successful. So you are correct in a sense that 'Face just didn't have the star appeal that Bobby had. Still, Al B. Sure had a whack image back then, so maybe 'Face could have competed with him. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Great thread. Two Ocassions is the tops for me, as already mentioned.Other cuts I'm thinking about:
Till You Do me Right After 7 Always in My Heart Tevin Campbell

Face did compete with them perse. They were all considered to be in the same genre and timeframe. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Big Babyface fan here.
This is my fave track by him, from the Grown and Sexy album.
Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

Great commercial songwriter. "Kissing You" by Faith Evans; "Willing To Forgive", "Honey" and "It Hurts Like Hell" for Aretha; "Love Saw It" w/ Karyn White; "My, My, My" Johnny Gill; "Breathe Again" Toni Braxton; "Can We Talk" Tevin Campbell; "End Of The Road" Boyz II Men; "Slow Jam" Midnight Star; "Tears" The Isley Brothers - the list goes on and on and on.. Babyface is a songwriting icon extraordinaire for popular mainstream music! Music Royalty in Motion

Wrong answer, "My, My, My' was written by Babyface with two co-writers
written by L.A. Reid, Babyface, Daryl Simmons (1990)

You are correct. I had a brain fart and was thinking abou a totally different J&L song from that album.
Hey, am I the only one that DIDN'T like My, My, My when it was all over the radio? I tought it was cheesey. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Some of my favorites that haven't been posted yet:
Damian Dame - Right Down to It
Milestone - I Care 'Bout You
Pebbles - Girlfriend
Tevin Campbell - I'm Ready
After 7 - Ready or Not
Boyz II Men - End of the Road
Each of those is in my top 10 Face tunes ever and my favorite song by that artist.
Overall, though, nothing beats the aforementioned "Don't Be Cruel." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Here's another fav. For some reason, the album version of "Every Little Step" is better than the remix to me. Maybe it's because it has 2 verses.

The 2nd verse is nothing compared to the first. And the remix's rap definitely improves the song IMO.
