I'm more offended by the lack of respect shown to him in the media. Most articles I've seen are busy forcusing more on the Twitter reactions of the Hip Hop community than they are of Gil Scott Heron and his life.

The funk is back.

George Clinton performed Tuesday night at the scheduled Parliament Funkadelic show at the B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York City after being hospitalized with an infection on the eve of the Memorial Day weekend.

“He looked 20 years younger,” said a spokesman for the club. “He looked great.”

Clinton, a native of Plainfield, played for three hours with a hospital ID bracelet on his arm, tweeted one fan. A show scheduled for Friday night at Joey Harrison's Surf Club in Ortley Beach was postponed due to the illness. Ticket holders can keep their tickets for a rescheduled date, which will be announced in the future, or receive a refund from the point of purchase. In other P-Funk news, the band’s Mothership stage prop has been donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture where it will be on display starting in 2015. The Mothership that will be in the Smithsonian is a replica, built in the ’90s, of the original Mothership.

“They’re taking the Mothership! They’re shipping it out!” Clinton told the Washington Post. “But I’m glad it’s going to have a nice home there.”

I saw The Prliaments perform Testify in '67 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on a triple bill with Baby Huey and the Babysitters and Cream.

They was wearin' their Temptations style sharkskin suits but from the size of their pupils I would say they were just about to break out of that mold and go all P-Funk on us. Hallelujah!
