Uk Girl Group THE SATURDAYS Aiming for first UK Number One with NOTORIOUS

The current top girl group is getting close to having their first UK number one, the new single "NOTORIOUS" is the first from their forthcoming Fourth Studio album and there 10th single release, of the other 9, 8 have peaked in the Top 10. The Saturdays a five member group debuted in 2007 with their debut record "CHasing Lights" which garnered 4top 10 hits and critical acclaim for being BETTER than the other Girl Groups in the UK. They followed with "Wordshaker" in 2008 and then "Headlines" a mini-album (with some new tracks and new mixes of songs) followed by a UK tour that was a total smash in a tough/dwindling touring market. The Group now just released "Notorious" this sunday to digital media outlets and their own site, and the UK's mid-week chart has them already at Number 5, making it their fastest mid week seller yet, the video debuted 3 days prior and the girls have another tour planned for later in 2011 with the release of the new record.

Though often compared with Girls ALoud and the SUGABABES, the Saturdays are from very varied backgrounds and races, and also have 5 central members not 1 or 2 that share the lead, so each at this point has their own indentity. and with the Sugababes changing members every other day, and Girls Aloud not recording till at least 2012, the throne is theirs.
