bowie song for bob dylan what do you think about artists writing songs about other musicians ? i have always thought this song was really cringeworthy ,its just about the only bad song on the hunky dory album , its sort of like creeping to the boss at work, does anyone know what bowie or dylan think of this song now ? maybe i can understand all those songs about buddy holly because he died young in tragic circumstances but creeping to bob dylan was an embarrassment for someone as talented as david bowie.

the song is not bad to begin with. Sure, it's the least good off Hunky Dory, but still far from bad
and the lyrics are relevant, it's about Dylan's early-70's songwriting slump and the fact that he stopped being the leader of the 60's generation...gone with the wind at that point... [Edited 5/25/11 13:17pm]

I loved his song about Warhol on Hunky Dory.

One of my favorite Bowie track's Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I agree that it's Hunky Dory's one hindrance to near-perfection.
It mimics Dylan's Song to Woody as a form of homage, or creeping if you like
