Found a Used Copy of Lady Killer today!! ok, i'm sure i could have downloaded it for free somewhere a long time ago, but I still love physical CDs. But anywho, just copped it (yesterday actually) and after a couple listens. i must admit i'm kinda disappointed. I love CeeLo's body of work and this is my least fave so far. His voice is rare i believe he emotes well, writes well, but nothing has struck me on my first few listens besides. Bright Lights, F-You (of course), and I Want You. (Wildflower a little bit).
i love Cee-Lo and i thought this would be a GREAT album. Bodies sounds like it could have been on a Gnarls album (reminds me of Necromancer off of St. Elswhere) and thematically, F-You doesn't see to fit despite being a huge (and likely only) hit from this album. People just now becoming familiar with Cee-Lo might feel as if he's a "one hit wonder" based on the rest of this album.
Found myself wondering too, if the concept comes from all the ass he probably gets from who he IS, and he's still surprised by it. Let's be honest, he, Rodman, Biz Markie and Flavor Flav are in the same category

I really liked Old Fashioned & Love Gun as well as Bright Lights
But it's not as good as say St.Elsewhere with Gnarls Barkley, I mean there you had Crazy, Storm Coming [I can paint a picture with a pen, but the song will only scratch the skin] Go Go Gadget Gospel, Gone Daddy Gone, Who Cares?
Now that was a great album! Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

right, St. Elsewhere was i think his best work since the Goodie Mob debut. as far as his solo works go, Lady Killer ranks third.

I really liked his album I wish people move off F- You and to some of the other songs on there. Bright Lights Bigger City should have been just as big .

"You Don't Shock Me Anymore" from Stray Bullets is one of the best songs I've heard in a very long time because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I concur 100%...said this the day "Lady Killer" came out.....but I can't lie "Lady Killer" is definitely doing it's job exposing Cee Lo to the main stream and getting his due. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Cee Lo knew that Lady Killer was going to be set up as a commercial album so he released Stray Bullets for himself and his fans.
He has gone on record many times saying that he prefers Stray Bullets to Lady Killer.
Stray Bullets is just rawer and not over produced. You know the label wanted to make Lo as commercial as possible.
Example, "I Want You" was supposed to sound like...
But ended up like...
And to the OP, give Lady Killer a few spins, its a grower imo.

I don't care what anyone says about this album, it's amazing. The only track I skip is Satisfied.

I'll have to go check out Stray Bullets again. I downloaded it when it "leaked" and only gave it a cursory listen. didn't think about it in the context of the "real album vs the commercial/label enforced album." I wonder what this will mean moving forward if the mission of more exposure was accomplished, but Cee-Lo doesn't prefer his own "mainstream" album

I want Stray Bullets Part 2! There's dozens more outtakes from those sessions that I'd love to hear. While I do love The Lady Killer, the mixtape was the real essence of Cee Lo, IMO.
By the way, here's another outtake that leaked a couple months ago. I don't believe it was posted here...

Awesome! Thanks for that, I did not know that this existed. I read that he had about 50 tracks written for the Lady Killer.
I love his work with Jack Splash...
Here are two more in case peeps have not heard them.
They were supposed to release an album at one time called "Jack Splash and Cee Lo Green are The Heart Attack" or something like that.
Keep these missing tracks flowing! [Edited 4/26/11 7:48am] Cause tomorrow is taking too long

It didn't leak, it was posted by Cee Lo himself, there was an article somewhere.

the two versions of I Want You are not that different to me. they have the same mood/vibe. Wouldn't characterize it as a "significant" difference. just a few sonic embellishments throughout, particularly at the beginning.
i was actually surprised that the oh my "Lord," "my God" references were allowed to stay on the "official" release. u know how these secular labels and their personnel can be.
The Robot Sex song and Gangster Boogie needed to be outtakes from Stray Bullets, mediocre at best
but do you all feel that FYou fits the album thematically. it has a retro feel production wise, but i mean he gets 'killed' (jilted in that instance), and the rest of the vibe of the album is more akin to I Want You (excepting Bodies, which fits thematically but not sonically )

I totally agree. I think F*** You is very much a throwaway track, I think I may have listened to that particular track once, twice tops.
The album is choc full of delightful little trinkets.

I love it too. Constantly playing in my house for the last month.
Wildflower is my fave closely followed by I Want You. Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud
