Pharrell Producing Gloria Estefan's Next Album

[img:$uid]http://i56.tinypic.com/2vwtx1h.jpg[/img:$uid]

April 4, 2011

Gloria Estefan is in the process of recording her first English album in nearly 7 years. The album is supposedly dance oriented with Skateboard P serving as co-writer/producer. As we await to hear what the two have in store for us one thing is for sure, this should definitely get the party moving.

Other than her 1980's music, I like Gloria's Spanish language stuff better than the english ones.

She's mostly has been releasing Spanish albums the past 2 decades. She's rarely put out any in English, so that's probably why you haven't heard her current music. But I like traditional Latin music like tropical, salsa, etc., so I'm aware of her recent music.

Here's some tunes from the last album she released in 2007 called 90 Millas.

Given tht Pharrell is a fan of the 1980's sound, I think it could work.

A friend of mine was an associate producer on 90 millas, it won a few latin grammys as well. I think it was one of her better selling albums in general. Emilio also wrote a bio a year or two back.

This is a VERY Miami collaboration as they both live here. I hope that they do it fun and loose, the stuff P did with Madonna sounded kinda crap to me.

Gloria Announces Album Title

May 26, 2011

Link

Singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan has been keeping fans up to date as she works on her forthcoming studio album, that has been said to be mostly dance-oriented. After teasing fans with the initials, Estefan finally announced the title of the album to be Little Miss Havana, which has been narrowed down to nine songs.

For the album, Estefan worked exclusively with Pharrell Williams for several months. As for the sound, fans can expect to hear a bilingual album.

Of the collaboration with Pharrell, she described it as "mixed." "Pharrell actually wanted more and more Spanish and that's what we've done," Estefan explained. "We really used English where we wanted English and Spanish where we thought it fit great."

The album is slated for a late 2011 release, with the first single coming as early as this summer. Until then, fans can hear a snippet of the title track on her official site. Estefan has also started shooting the video for her first single.

This could be interesting.I like Pharrell's recent work with Madonna...it was fun, catchy and retro-80s sounding. This could be a cool album for Gloria.

Didn't realise that! Does that mean it was Gloria who came up with the line about not confusing modest boobies with mountains, I wonder? hmmm

(It really is a pain when that does happen, you know. If I had a nickel for every time I've set off for a pleasant afternoon's hill-walking, only to end up on a sexual harassment charge.....) doh!
