Alicia Keys Addresses Homewrecker Claim

Multi-Grammy winner Alicia Keys has been very closed-lipped regarding her personal life and relationship with husband Swizz Beatz (real name Kasseem Dean), but in the new issue of Essence , the R&B diva finally opened up about why she is not a homewrecker.

“We didn't start seeing each other until months after they had separated,” Keys tells the magazine. “I was aware of all the false things that were being said about me. It definitely hurts.”

Keys and Dean tied the knot last July, only months after Dean finalized his divorce from R&B singer Mashonda, whom he has a son with.

Mashonda, who is now in a good place with Keys and her son’s father, exploded at first, writing a letter, insisting that “Keys was destroying her family.”

Avoiding any media attention, Keys never replied back to Mashonda, stating “I was sure that if I engaged it would become back-and-forth like some sick entertainment, which goes against everything I believe and would have made things worse.”

Now with the smoke cleared, Keys and Mashonda are cordial and Mashonda has accepted Alicia as a “partner” in caring for her son.

“Things are really good now,” said Alicia, who adds “Kasseem is very present in his children's lives. I wouldn't be able to love him otherwise.”

If there is a "homewrecker" that should be Swizz Beatz not Alicia. I don't understand why women are always the ones who get blamed on...

I give that marriage about 5 years. It was good PR for her to get married before she had the baby. I dont know why but I still feel like she's 'hiding in the closet'.

Ok lemme stop miss keys right here. This line about "we didn't start until months after.." is the classic line that ALL mistresses use. If they aren't using that one then they use the old "the marriage was over before I started seeing him...".

Bottom line is dude was MARRIED which meant that there was still a chance he'd reconcile with his wife and that there was still the likelihood that he was going over there getting some Mashonda pussy. That's just the way a lot of marriages that are in a state of turbulence go.

If she was truly undeserving of the "homewrecker" title then she would never address such accusations... EVER. She wouldn't have to. By responding to it, even now, she giving the impression that just maybe she was doing something she shouldn't have been doing.

What goes around DOES come back around so Alicia girl....enjoy that bin laden/no tax payin/late on child support/wack beat makin mofo while you can cuz the next booty is just around the corner.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

She is even though alot of her music lately has been average. I love Fallen.

I know I dont know Alicia obviously lol but her speech and views on life etc always seemed sincere and ABOVE this whole situation. Im suprised she would put herself in a situation like this and even bother with a guy like that. She seemed so much more classier than that but I dunno guess I was wrong.

Nobody's a home wrecker in reality....meaning the home is ready to be wrecked

when that third person comes along. Obviously things weren't going well for him already

when Alicia came along.

Uh, no. Sorry but women have to be held accountable for their actions, too.

If a man who cheats on his woman is a no good cheating bastard, a woman who deliberately goes after a married man is a homewrecker. Problems or no problems, this lying ass broad is trying to re-write history. Does she not remember there were pictures of her and Swizz together long before he was seperated? She has selective, revisionist memory.

She's a talented woman...but she's a skank ass slore. They deserve each other.

So true. I subscribe to Essence, and when this arrived in the mail last week, I just tossed it aside. I just wasn't interested in hearing her side of that story. Married is married. I've had married, separated men approach me and I tell them to look me up AFTER the divorce. I don't date married men. Period.
