Thanks Timmy!

I still don't know if I'll be buying another edition of What's Going On though. I don't know if I can pick another one up, but the newly-found bonus cuts look interesting. I'm curious about the instrumentals and studio outtakes alot. I have more faith about the release of that Trouble Man reissue, which is supposed to be released sometime this year. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I hope so. Producer Harry Weigner confirmed that it was coming out this year though in an interview last year.

Here's the interview:

New interview with Harry Weigner on 40th anniversary of What's Going On box set and its impact.

This looks like a bigger version of the 2001 deluxe edition of the album. eek

Those Hip-O Select/Motown Select titles are always changing. I don't see it dropping this year, now with What's Goin On on the schedule.

Right. lol

I'm reading this interview while listening to the last couple of minutes of the BBC tribute and I think many music collectors and Marvin fans have gotten tired of this whole re-release of this album. According to the interview, Harry thinks that the 2001 deluxe edition didn't reveal the entire picture of the process Marv took to make this album, but I just find this edition repetitive. Why not release the new material on its own. Foolish! lol

Yeah I know. How long did the second volume of that 70's Supremes set take? Trouble Man won't be coming out until next year. lol

They been slippin on theor Motown material (sans those Smpkey sets.) People are still waiting for Motown Singles Vol 12 A and B. Also, they promised the '60s era Stevie Albums and some Marvalette's stuff.

I know that's right. I know they were quick as hell with getting Teena Marie's Lady T, Irons In The Fire and rarities compilation in the can. Happy about that and all, but they have been skimpy with Motown stuff. I thought that Smokey and Tammi's stuff from last year was excellent though!

And The Jackson Five and Diana stuff too. They just came out with the long-awaited second volume of the 70's Supremes compilation, but I see what you're saying. lol

I think they got enough Supremes' stuff out. There like 10 different sets of Supremes/Diana Ross material on the hip-o site. That's more than anyone not named James Brown. The different with the JB material s everything has been released before, it's a lot of vaulted Supremes stuff they let out.
