Bernard wrote this: You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm just waiting for someone to do a Millie Jackson thread

I had thoughts of doing it TODAY but after all these "Jackson" threads, I'll let someone else do it.

Hell i was like if you can't beat em, join em. As for Surface i liked the majority of their music but there were a few nauseating songs like Shower Me With Your Love. Don't laugh at my funk

I like that one,but I hate the song "The First Time".That was a little too sappy and pop-sounding

Like Lionel Richie, Kool & The Gang, and Atlantic Starr, they were going for the crossover and adult contemporary market. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

True that's why I like their first album so much. It's solid R&B.The "crossover" stuff came later.
