There's so much wrong with this list, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Its B.E.T./Mtv/VH1, so its bullshit.

Beyonce nominated for Best R&B Female Artist really BET? Did she release any new material? Im not talking about her latest single. They most really need her star power to generate ratings for the show ...hence the nomination.

The BET Awards is now in the same league with the Grammys lacking real creditability. Hopefully they do a tribute to the late Teena Marie.

I'd say give it to B.B. King. He's been performing since the 1940's and is still recording and touring. But BET probably never heard of him. lol Or they can give it to Fats Domino, Neville Brothers, Little Richard, Nancy Wilson, Bobby Bland, Chuck Berry, Booker T. Jones, Betty Wright, The Staples, Herbie Hancock, or many other people.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Lawd, the sound problems are a given at the BET Awards. A tribute would sound like a mess. But, we could have Nicki Minaj do Square Biz, Keyshia Cole doing her best off key rendition of Deja Vu, Keri Hilson doing Out On A Limb, etc. eek neutral neutral

They're big right now, but with the BET viewers, they're still "bubbling under" per se

I would love a tribute to her.....she so deserves it... but I can't think of anyone who would really do it justice.

As much as I agree with this, come on now...this is the BET awards. I can see the Grammys or even the NAACP Image Awards honoring these important figures. But they rather give homage to folks we all recognize universally.

I think BET did a good job when they allowed Marsha Ambrosius to pay homage to her on the BET Honors show earlier this year, which is the only tasteful thing I can tolerate from BET. May I say, Marsha definitely did her justice. I don't want them to do any thing else. Didn't we see what they did to Michael two years ago????

I haven't heard of 90% of the nominees on the list above, and most of the remaining I only heard of their name, but have never heard their songs.

Now I do think that BET does a great job honoring figures on their BET Honors event, which comes on early each year. Herbie Hancock finally got recognized and they did a bang-up job honoring him also. The BET Awards would never think about recognizing someone like him though, which is sad, but it is what it is!

Oh yea I forgot that little portion from the show...One of the few highlights....She did great...I'm so used to them fucking up tributes I've become jaded towards BET.

I wasn't taking about regular nominations. I was rather talking about special awards that are given to honor legends.

nod TRUE! That's what I'm talkin' about. They haven't gotten their props yet, probably never will. That's the sad part. But their enduring work speaks volumes more than any award ever could.

The BET Honors is the best of BET. The BET Awards, mostly, is the worst. lol But somehow it's more enjoyable than NAACP and MTV combined for some weird reason. lol

Hmm...

This is how I'm feeling about the BET Awards so far. Every Lifetime Achievement Award they've given out since 2001 is based on awards they didn't give artists during that whole Walk of Fame phrase, which as they use to claim is the highest honor BET ever gives or whatever the fuck that means.

They've given a Walk of Fame to Michael, Aretha, Patti, Stevie, Smokey, Luther...just to name a few. I think those LTAA are just a cop out for them to pay homage to people they probably didn't get a chance to pay homage to when they were doing those Walk of Fame awards.

GOD HOW MUCH I HATE OVERRATED, UNWORTHY AWARD SHOWS! mad
