Faith Evans Files For Divorce

May 21, 2011

R&B star Faith Evans has filed for divorce from her manager husband after 12 years of marriage.

The singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her split from record company executive Todd Russaw in court documents filed in LA and obtained by TMZ.

Evans is asking for joint custody and sole physical custody of the couple's two children Joshua, 10, and 4-year-old Ryder. She also wants the judge to reject any claim of spousal support.

The 37-year-old further claims to have separated from Russaw back in 2005, despite giving birth to Ryder two years later.

Evans has two more children from previous relationships, including a teenage son with late rap star The Notorious B.I.G.

Funny how every time she separates from a husband, she winds up having his baby.

Apparently Faith said she was through with the marriage six years ago:

Her marriage has apparently been over for several years, but R&B singer Faith Evans has just now gotten around to pulling the plug.

The 37-year-old filed for divorce from music executive Todd Russaw on May 17 in Los Angeles County, after almost 14 years of marriage.

Citing 'irreconcilable differences' in court papers, the soul music songstress also requested custody of the two children the couple have together, Joshua, 13, and Ryder who is four-years-old.

Faith and Todd married in 1997, but according to the divorce petition, the couple separated in December of 2005.

The 2005 date has raised several questions, because Ryder was born in 2007.

The Soon As I Get Home singer is asking for joint legal and sole physical custody with Todd having visitation rights. She has also asked the court to reject any claim of spousal support.

According to The Detroit Press and public records, the IRS filed a $36,360 lien against Faith March 4 in New York.

Before that the IRS filed a $119,821 lien against her on February 16 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds for her home.

There is also a previous infraction for $204,000 filed against her by the state of New Jersey on Oct. 30, 2008.

Faith was married to rapper Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G." Wallace when he was killed in 1997.

Her son with the late rapper, Christopher Wallace, Jr., co stars in the new Will Ferrell movie, Everything Must Go.

She also has a daughter named Chyna from a previous relationship, who was born in 1993.

According to the website, fame-net-worth.blogspot.com, Evans is worth an estimated $20million dollars.

Although the Grammy Award-winning singer, who was once known as the first lady of P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records, recently got into tax trouble with the Internal Revenue Service and faced a bill of $360,000 for back taxes.

The money owed stems from liens filed against Evans in Los Angeles, New York and New Jersey.

Divorce is so hard in a normal circumstance, but I just hope that the press is kind, given that there are children involved. I know, as crazy as a "hope" that might be, ya never know...the papparazi might actually behave in a decent manner for once!
