U2 & Stones based in Holland. Is that bad? The Irish are angry with U2 because they are stationed in Amsterdam, due to attractive tax laws for artists.
Just as the Rolling Stones moved here.
Bono states that they earn their money worldwide, pay taxes worldwide and stationed in Holland due to artists friendly tax laws.
Is that a bad thing? Should U2 move back to Ireland? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

It doesn't bother me. They are businesses and will go wherever they can operate their businesses more efficiently.

I don't know how I feel about either of them now living or being based in Holland... but I guess their moves are no different than when Marvin moved to Belgium because he had tax problems and he prefer not to be seen until he was ready to come back.

The band's headquarters moved to Holland.
The Irish are pretty upset and protest during concerst. It's a big issue in Ireland.

They need to mind their own business. What's it to them where someone else chooses to live? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I agree.
U2 earns their money around the world, there is no reason that the headquarter should be based there. However, the Irish really think differently and plans on big protest have formed:

They got bigger things to worry about instead of some rock supergroup moving out of where they came from. You never saw folks in either Tennessee or St. Louis protesting Tina Turner's concerts because she dared moved to Europe!

"Members of activist group Art Uncut will hoist a massive inflatable sign with the message 'Bono Pay Up' spelt out in lights during the Irish band's headline performance at Glastonbury later this month."
Aww! Cute! Good luck with that!
Well, the difference probably is that Ireland is a tiny country on the verge of banktruptcy and their biggest superstars moved away!
But I agree, people should mind their own business! I don't mind that they went where it is most profitable for them, why shouldn't they! And it also doesn't contradict Bono's activism, as this is his own thing, whereas the U2 business got 4 other people involved! It also is not like they moved away right away... they kept their business in Ireland for more than 25 years... other artists moved their business away much quicker!
And like their manager puts it: "U2 is a global business and pays taxes globally... at least 95 per cent of U2's business takes place outside of Ireland and as a result the band pays many different kinds of taxes all over the world." [Edited 6/5/11 12:14pm]
