Todd & Bebe had a complicated relationship: they first met in 1971 and began dating the following year and had an on-again, off-again, open relationship until sometime in 1978 (I think Bebe was the basis of Todd's hit "Can We Still Be Friends?" and the majority of the material on his Hermit of Mink Hollow album). I think they reunited a few times before finally splitting up for good in the '80s when Liv's father was finally coming off of his longtime cocaine addiction, which ended just as Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation became platinum. Also Liv started asking questions about her birth father because she realized she and Steven looked alike when she saw him in concert in 1986 (she was nine then) and she had a sister (Steven's younger daughter Mia) that looked like her. Liv still keeps her birth surname Rundgren as her middle name though. She said she was blessed to have two fathers. Todd's still a big part of Liv's life to this day.

Sounds like it. I first heard the story a few years ago. Apparently this was during the initial Aerosmith heyday of the mid-1970s.
