I don't think it is as good as The Fame monster, but better than the Fame.

I loved every second of TFM, but this album has a couple of week songs (I don't think I'll ever like the edge of glory).

But highlights like Government Hooker, Americano and Scheiße are making me one happy little monster.

It's actually exceeded my expecations, lots of stuff I'm really liking on it.

but I'm mostly enjoying Heavy Metal Lover, I think it's the best thing I've ever heard from her. I'm also really loving Bloody Mary.

Bloody Mary is getting alot of positive reaction, I think it is defineatly the So Happy I Could Die of this album, I love it!

Average IMO. A few good tracks but all in all nowhere near FAME MONSTER.

I'll only say this: more filler than great material.

The best songs were:

  • Bloody Mary
  • You & I
  • Electric Chapel

Everything else is so-so. I'll pass. But it'll be #1 anyway so... shrug

i like it quite a bit. i definitely thinks it's better than the fame. i would say it's on par with the fame monster, or a little below it. someone said it, and i am gonna repeat it: it has exceeded my expectations. that lame cover art had me worried it was going to be an awful album.

americano and shiesse seem to be my favorites so far

and i am relieved (and confused) to see the title track was one of the weakest songs. i was worried the whole album was gonna be that meh. thankfully it isnt the case

I'll be listening tonight when i get home. Curious
about this one. Haven't liked anything i've heard
so far but there's still 10 songs left so there is
bound to be some good stuff there.

Initial impressions:

Excellent: Born This Way, The Edge of Glory, Americano, Schiesse, Bad Kids, Heavy Metal Lover, Electric Chapel

Decent: Judas, Marry the Night, You And I

Just Alright: Hair, Government Hooker, Bloody Mary, Highway Unicorn

I can tell it's got some time to go while it all settles in. I think this is a really smart record even though some of the songs have stupid lyrics. The music is complex-sounding (despite being simple) and it is well put together. I prefer the Garibay tracks to the RedOne tracks, which is the opposite of TFM for me.

But I guess we now know why they picked "Judas" as the second single - it sounds more familiar. The rest of this record is like Gaga and the producers overdosed on CDs released from 1988-1993 and made a record about it. lol.

Overall, I am very happy and relieved. I was really nervous there at the end that it'd be all songs like "Judas" and "Hair"... lol.

Edit: I wish they would make "Americano" a single!! I think it would be risky and it would make an awesome video, lol.

So, last night I skimmed through most of the songs, as I normally do and well...I didn't really find myself wanting to listen to anything in particular. Like, I wasnt' driven to stop and listen to that one song or the entire album for that matter. That might change as I give the album time to grow on me. That being said, even though I felt that The Fame needed better singles, I do think that there was something a little more fresh about it. Though, I'm not surprised she went this route, because there was a ton of foreshadowing back in the TFM. I love dance music, but...I don't know. It might take me more time to really appreciate it.

That being said I still incredibly loathe Born This Way.

My review so far: Meh.

That being said, I still think that her lyrics suck.

This thing is air supply meats Cyndie Lauper, The Prodigy meets Blondie, Journey meets Nina Hagen, all bumping and grinding on a rhretro-80's dance floor....I friggen love it.

I think the thing was that I loved The Fame Monster so much that I told myself not to have any expectations of the new album. Sophomore albums (I know TFM is the real sophmore album, but I consider this one to be) always tend to be a bit off for artists. But this one hits all the right notes for me.

What I really like is that lady Gaga knows where to grow her market and establish long lasting fan support---on the dancefloor. Every danceclub in the world is going to be spinning mixes from this thing.

I'm sure people (critics) are going to knock it for this or that thing, but that's fine with me. I simply love this album. It has been a long, long, looooooong time since and album made me burst out laughing with joy.

I adore this woman! lol

I wasnt really a gaga fan untill I watched her HBO concert so dont own her first two albums but I'm definitely getting this one. Its strange though as when I first listened to it I was kind of indifferent about the songs, but it really is the more you play it the better it becomes. I just love how dark it is, and her voice oh my god she sounds really good and quite different.

I have only heard the 4 released singles & Bloody Marry, Marry The Night.

But GaGa is reminding me of how i felt when i listened to Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and that is that no one is doing what he does in rap anymore. And his music on the album was unique & on another level.

GaGa who i was never a fan of until recently actually! may have some simple beats on song's but the dark edge, the lovely saxophone add in's by Clarence on Hair & Edge Of Glory & everything else combined make for an interesting pop album that's miles ahead of what other pop stars are doing nowadays. I was a non fan of her to, but i have grown to like her with these song's.... All the other pop tarts ala Kesha, Katy Perry would never make a song like Bloody Marry or Heavy Metal lover

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I absolutely abused the replay button for the song Heavy Mental Lover. Best dance song I've heard in years.

Brilliant album.

Put whatver feelings u have aside for her, I'm not her biggest fan, but I always appreciate music that sounds good to my ear, and this album is brilliant. I salute her.

So I've decided that I love every song except the Edge Of Glory and Highway Unicorn.

The latter is really dissapointing for a song with Unicorn in its name...

I fucking love Bloody Mary though, def my favorite song.

I bet this track will get some cool remixes. It sounds perfect for the club as it is, but I can see some room for additional interpretations.

I can't decide if I think this or "Americano" should be singles more. Both have potential to be really cool videos. biggrin
