Carlos Santana and George Lopez "Divine Rascals" tour

Santana bringing George Lopez on tour for 5 shows

NEW YORK – Carlos Santana is hoping to make fans smile on his upcoming tour with the sound of music. He's also hoping to do the same with killer jokes.

That's why the multiplatinum musician is bringing George Lopez on the road for five shows.

"When George comes in in the middle of set and he does his thing, it's like the Niagara Falls man. My stomach hurts, I put my guitar down and I know that I'm going to have a quality time," Santana said in an interview last week. "It's a spiritual release to be able to laugh; it's just as important as a powerful meditation. ... (There's) prayer, meditation and laughter — laughter beats all of that."

The joint tour, "Divine Rascals," will kick off Sept. 3 in Morrison, Colo. and wraps on Oct. 1 in Los Angeles. Those dates will come in the middle of Santana's "Sound of Collective Consciousness Tour," which begins on Aug. 25 in Seattle and wraps in Palm Springs, Calif., on Sept. 30.

Santana and Lopez are of Mexican descent.

Lopez said watching Santana laugh at his jokes is "one of the most amazing experiences visually that I've ever had."

The comedian-actor, 50, said over the years he's learned life lessons from the 63-year-old guitar legend.

"In the last five years that we've been very close it has helped me tremendously in how I conduct myself every day and how I live my life," Lopez said. "I'm much more at peace, I'm calmer and I have pinpointed to do my thing exactly when it's appropriate."

Carlos Santana Trashes Georgia Immigration Law At Braves Civil Rights Game

Carlos Santana, you should've known an event called the Civil Rights Game would be a terrible venue at which to speak your mind about civil rights issues. While on stage with Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Morgan Freeman and others to receive some such awards for whatnot, Santana used the forum to say, "The people of Arizona and the people of Atlanta, Georgia, you should be ashamed of yourselves."

For exercising his right to free speech, he was booed by some at Turner Field. Thus everyone involved in the situation used his or her right to free speech. All right!

Star-divide

The state of Georgia recently passed a controversial immigration law similar to Arizona's, which was itself highly controversial.

Santana then held a press conference after the game to hypothesize about what would happen to Georgia if Hispanic workers stopped contributing. He also broke out the "If people want the immigration laws to keep passing, then everybody should get out and leave the American Indians here" line, which has always been my personal favorite.
