King of Wishful Thinking is my jam!!!
These guys are great!! I always found the lead singer to be a very convincing blue eyed soul singer. One of the best I've heard.

I had their first one on tape. "We Close Our Eyes"

Loved them! I used to live near Peter Cox and always found myself standing next to him at the bank and sitting in the same train carriage

One of my favorite bands. I listen to "Goodbye Girl", "Call Me", and "Eye To Eye" all the time "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Always dug this one from the "White Men Can't Jump" Soundtrack.....

One of the best live bands, for real!!! Their live CD is definately worth picking up. It was originally titled 'Live at the NEC', but this thing has been repackaged and released so many times over the last decade it's ridiculous. It's currently dirt cheap on Amazon:

And don't let the price fool you into thinking it's one of those cheaply recorded bootleg live albums. It's not. It's Go West in their prime; recorded in 1993 before the break-up.

Always liked this one from the Nightmare on Elm Street 4 soundtrack as well.
I always thought the name "Peter Cox" was kind of funny...his first and surname are both nicknames for penis! He really does have a soulful voice, though. Did Richard Drummie ever take the lead on any songs? And is it just me, or does he look a lot like Christopher "Peter Brady" Knight?

They're still releasing new material and touring (mostly only in the UK). There was a new album in '08 and two EPs last year. Their and Peter's websites are:

I found a 12" single of this at Goodwill a few years ago.
I never made the Peter Brady connection but I can see where you're coming from. I think the closest Richard got to a lead vocal is singing the 'all I want is you' line from "Crystal Ball". I have always assumed that's him. It's definately not Peter's voice.
A lot of people, in particular inebriated "straight" men, apparently find the name Cox rip-roaringly hilarious. My cable company/internet provider is called Cox Communications. A couple young guys in the lounge area of my building went on for about 5 minutes with Cox jokes after coming to this realization. I guess they were uncomfortable with visions of Cox in the head and Cox coming out of their mouths so they had to orally purge themselves of all the Cox in them. Do you think Peter's name has been a hindrance in his solo career?

Lol I don't know if it's been a hindrance, but I'm almost sure it's come up a time or two! "Get up off that grey line"

They are awesome, but I think they kinda got lost in the Brit invasion that was happening at that point "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Everytime i think of GO WEST i am reminded of U68, the all music channel that ran for a bit, very under the radar, but was great for those that didnt have MTV, they basically just popped up in 1985 late, a first to play a-ha's "take on me" long before MTV got it, things like Device "Hanging on a Heart Attack" etc...more non top of the charts stuff, and a good variety of stuff, sadly that channel got purchased and became an 80's version of QVC. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
