THat's it? confused this is the controversial video lol

This was like watching an episode of my beloved Sons of Anarchy but with singing & dance choreography lol

And of course she dies at the end it seem's i predicted that would happen, i thought the video would be a lot crazier then this!

I'm not really a GaGa fan but i do fig the song, the video is ok nothing special at all, i'm sure people will come in claiming she's copying Like A Prayer sooner or later lol but it's far from Like A Prayer. But i see media sites already making the comparisons lord

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

i'll probably give it a spin as a non GaGa fan as i said i do dig Judas, even though the video was overhyped and was very under delivered

I'll say this, visually the video looks good. It was just disjointed as with the song. It was typical Gaga. Problem was people buy into the hype she and her director created about it. Like let the videos speak for itself. It was an okay video overall but...well yeah lol still didn't make me like the song. shrug

“Well, I want to allow the video to speak for itself but I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle Fellini movie where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem,” Gaga explained to MSNBC. “And I play Mary Magdalene leading them into the town where we meet Jesus and I will leave the rest for you to see. But it’s meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.”

I missed the Fellini movie inspiration, but I as far as I can see it sho'nuff wasn't there..although I agree with the last line..I guess.

Italian neorealism (Italian: Neorealismo) is a style of film characterized by stories set amongst the poor and working class, filmed on location, frequently using nonprofessional actors. Italian neorealist films mostly contend with the difficult economical and moral conditions of post-World War II Italy, reflecting the changes in the Italian psyche and the conditions of everyday life: poverty and desperation.

There's your Fellini inspiration (beyond the fact she describes for you what the Fellini inspiration is in the quote YOU quoted razz ).

That's wonderful, so then how do you not see the connection? The video appears to be a biker gang of apostles going to a squatter's corner with a bunch of ostensibly homeless people. Doesn't get more neorealism than that.

Have you ever seen Il Grido by Michaelangelo Antonioni? It's not as known as Fellini's films but it's probably my favorite neorealist film. You'll love it!

Which specific film was she referencing anyway?

She wasn't referencing a specific film - just the vibe of a Fellini film. Of course, people will blow that up and try to investigate and overanalyze every little piece, pointing out which aspects are NOT a portrayal of a Fellini idea, but there ya go. lol.

Well as far as can see Fellini was more subtle in the references, he wouldn't use bikers with the apostles names and Jesus and such, he'd propably created characters with the references in between the lines.

That's the wonder of inspiration. If she had completely ripped a Fellini movie, can you imagine the backlash? LOL.

Anyway, I like the video. Took a couple watches to sink in. The storyline appears to be that she was sleeping with Judas and Jesus at the same time (the imagery of her washing both of their feet), she confronts Judas and Jesus pardons him (the scene where she wipes the lipstick gun across Judas' face), and the people stone her to death for her accusations.

Cool stuff, IMO!

it's really not that, brotha..it's just the fact that I'm entittled 2 have a point of view like u. I just don't see it..but anyways. And hey lil monster don't be mad...I'm really not a hater. Peace! wink

and MidniteMagnet, no I haven't seen that one. I'm not exactly a fan of neorealism, although I like Fellini. I've never discussed it much becuz my all friends hate old movies. But I'm a fan of 50's and 60's movies, that's how I got 2 Fellini and even his movies were not easy 2 find round here. I love speacially the american movies from those decades and they're really not neorealist, they're actually the oppose 2 that lol
