You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Give me your musical view of the 1980's. The only stipulation is...it cannot include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince...nor anything that has to do with them.

I'll start it off...

J. Geils Band - Centerfold

This is my FAVE song from them...

Those white boys showed out.

These were some of the major sounds of my 80s. I could add so many more. Most of these songs ended up on multiple mixtapes. I still listen to all of them. Incidentally, my 80s actually did not include very much of the three named artists. Sure, I listened to them on the radio but I never bought them and they never made it on to a mixtape.

Loose Ends

Slow Down ; Stay A Little While Child

Force Md's

Love Is A House ; Tender Love

New Edition

Can you stand the rain; Not my kind of girl

Deele

Two Occassions ;Shoot Em Up Movies

Zapp and Roger

Computer Love ; Bounce to the Ounce

Troop

I will always love you ; Spread My Wings

Alexander O'Neal

If You Were Here Tonight; Never Knew Love Like This
