I get what your saying but I just wanna clarify for those who don't. Andrew, Stuart and Paul are equal partners of Sade the band. They are not her backing band (like E-Street or Revolution were). They only go by Sweetback when they work without Sade. So yeah, without the three of them, there is no Sade (as a band). And Sade Adu is the first to say this.

yup...Sade is a band, but some people perceive to believe that she's an solo artist....not true

So, maybe you could explain the sold out tours after an 8 year hiatus? Sade goes away and comes back and is still adored. There are a lot of pretty vocalists who, if they went away for 8 years would have to start playing at small local clubs again just to get a buzz. She went away and came back to huge venues. You may not like her but be honest about it. Nobody is going to pay the kind of money her tickets cost just to see a pretty cougar who can't really sing that well. Pebbles couldn't sell out the men's bathroom at Macys right about now. Even though Vanessa L. Williams can sing her ass off, she couldn't get arena gigs at this point. Sade has something special; her voice. Like it or not, people love her for a reason and its not her looks.

It is the music. I could just listen to the band all night... no singing needed.

The whole package is what fills large venues, not just the band. If it were just the band, they'd be playing jazz club gigs.

Yeah, Sade Adu is THE STAR of the band. Without it, the band would just be doing festivals/clubs. They know that but they love doing the club thing when they're "Sweetback". Either way it's all good.

True a lead singer is needed.... but many singers could do as a good a job as Sade Adu. sorry, I don't find her voice (as a stand alone) very unique or special. I would not listen to her without the band, but I would listen to the band without her, or with another lead singer.

I'm not sure if she's the best... to me that's a kinda ridiculous assumption and statement (by what criteria? Do you know all female singers?), but I quite like her... some of my videos from the show I saw last week:

I don't know who the best is - when we talk about art and music and singing.....maybe others....

...but she's much appreciated, probably my favorite female singer !

Love her voice and her great band, the wonderful songs - got all of Sade's music.

And I'm looking forward to their concert next week in Munich

Thanks for the vids! I'm seeing her in July and you got me all excited now...

Sade Adu is my favorite female singer. Her sound is distinctive, her style is exquisite and her band is incomparable. Sade is the only show I've ever been to where the men in the audience literally swoon like lovestruck schoolgirls,

She has this sort of exotic, ethereal quality which also enhances her appeal...the woman is a goddess.
