Whitney was never a better vocalist than Rachelle Ferrell. I think you are probably unfamiliar with her work. |

as far as her voice no!! she doesnt have alot of range. If she came out to today you people wouldnt be saying she was the best
i think you guys are blinded by Sade's classy seductive image.

So, maybe you could explain the sold out tours after an 8 year hiatus? Sade goes away and comes back and is still adored. There are a lot of pretty vocalists who, if they went away for 8 years would have to start playing at small local clubs again just to get a buzz. She went away and came back to huge venues. You may not like her but be honest about it. Nobody is going to pay the kind of money her tickets cost just to see a pretty cougar who can't really sing that well. Pebbles couldn't sell out the men's bathroom at Macys right about now. Even though Vanessa L. Williams can sing her ass off, she couldn't get arena gigs at this point. Sade has something special; her voice. Like it or not, people love her for a reason and its not her looks. |

yeah and ?? still doesnt mean shes the best female vocalist in the last 25 years
if you wanna go down route Rihanna has sold out concerts and sold millions does this make her the best vocalist out now? no..
lets not talk about how much she sells lets talk about her voice leave all that other stuff out
so sade is in a singing competion
round one
Sade vs Matha Wash..who would win ? |

Please show me where I said she was the best singer in the last 25 years. You CAN'T because THAT IS NOT WHAT I SAID!
I said she has a strong fan base and a unique voice, which she does. As powerful of a singer as Martha Wash is, her VOICE is not that unique. Where I grew up, there was a Martha Wash in every church. That is not a knock at Miss Wash. She is a great SINGER. Great SINGER doesn't equate to unique tone. Sade has unique tone. It is that tone, coupled with the material that she and her band writes that gives her a special quality that people like. When you're done whining about it, she will STILL have a strong fan base full of people who like her VOICE. So, argue away all day long but there are people that love her sound and there isn't a damn thing that you can do to change that. People like what they like. Period. |

Yeah she's the best female artist that still keeps her same style instead of switching new(in a good way). New material usually turns out bad. |

Nothing wrong with a strong reaction, but that doesn't mean that they're throwing shade on Sade.
Alright shade's a strong word but still...
You gotta admit Sade has some great songs. Hell she has some classics.
Oh no doubt. But no one said she didn't have great songs either . I return from the stone crib, bringing verbal milk, a stool, and a bib. |

Really? You know Rachelle has a 5 octave range, right? (with complete control over it)
Whitney was the blueprint for most of the female R&B singers that came out after her and she "was" a truly gifted singer...but Rachelle s in another stratosphere. She floors me every time I hear her live. |

well that was what i was talking about in the beginning.... you know that is the topic of the thread, right?
and you responded to me..so what in hell are you talk about ??
clearly i was talking about whitney being the best in last 25 years...i was responding to joes post.
plus you just assumed i didnt like sade as an artist because i was talking about another artist more favorably than Sade.. please

yes sade's voice is more unique, even janet's voice is more unique then Beyonce.
Beyonce has this ghetto church voice, and im pretty sure there are girls out there who can duplicate the sound and definitly the style.
"Ghetto church voice" I see where your head is at. You need not comment any further due to your lack of knowledge on this subject.
its not about knowlege its about my opinion. and what I hear.
The one thing I do know about beyonce, is that she is overrated, and her voice is as well.... |

Conya Doss - hmmm, she's aight
Mariah - wish she stop that damn whispering, you ain't Janet
Beyonce - yeah but needs better material (way better)
Saundra - she's good
Lalah -
Lauryn - fell off before she really took off
Martha - never got the respect she deserved
janet just starting that whispering sining on her last album. So don't even go there with this comment.
Mariah has been whispering since late 90s..... its just gotten worst as of post 2005 |
