eek Brandy???

well, brandy can really sing... not on mariah or whitney's level. But she is light years ahead of rihanna and beyonce.

Weird Al Yankovic is light years ahead of Rhianna and Beyonce.

Rihanna can't sing.

Beyonce CAN sing; she just sings a lot of bullshit. There's a difference.

Anyway, neither of them are as interesting as Sade in my opinion.

Too me, Sade's voice is unique & for fact that she has one of the best backing Bands of all time "Sweetback", they've really helped her have the career she has. But if you take her band away, I'm not sure if she stood a chance. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE pretty much everything I've ever heard from her. But in all honesty, I question her lasting effect outside of her band prodution skills....

One of the best, yes. Absolutely no question about that.

Her voice is beautiful.

So's the rest of her too, though. lol

I dunno, i always thought Joss Stone had a tremendous soulful voice for a white girl from the south of england.... Shame her quality of music tends to vary and put her voice to waste. Colour Me Free was a good album though, Sheila E on drums!

Define "best"? Best vocals? Best entertainer? Best in terms of relevancy? If it's voice, I have to go with Teena Marie. Control, soul, beautiful tone and sound, and passion all in one.

if you really listen to their vocals, they are pretty much the same, beyonce has maybe 1 point above rihanna, but really rihanna is the goat version of beyonce. They have that same singing style. lol

The obvious comparisons for me are with Norah Jones and Chan Marshall(Cat Power)- seductively drowsy voices. Chan's subtle lullabies are beautiful on Moon Pix and You Are Free, whereas the evaluative adjective that I will lazily, yet correctly, ascribe to Norah and Sade, is boring.

Sade is miles ahead in terms of tone and quality, oh and LYRICS but Sade writes her own songs.

Rihanna can't sang. She's 1st year Ashanti in terms of her abilities. That's not to say she won't ever learn to sing (like Ashanti did) but at this moment, b*tch can't sang.

Beyonce has ability but she sings b.s. Rih and Bey don't even belong in a Sade thread. The sing cookie cutter tween songs while Sade has always sang adult-oriented material (aka grown folks' music)

Rihanna COULD NEVER sing something like "Dangerously In Love" - its beyond her ability. By the same token, NEITHER of them could execute "Is It A Crime" properly because neither of them have the finess and sultry tone to pull it off. You can get all of the notes right but if the TONE is not there, its just not going to be that good. Sade is a master of tone. Her tone is superior to many singers and makes her unique. The combination of her voice, her lyrics and the band's music makes a great synergy - it just works. Someone mentioned Sade's band as Sweetback but that's backwards - Stewart Matthewman and the boys were playing behind Sade long before there was ever a Sweetback. They go together and all of the "what if" stuff is just grounded in guesswork. Who's to say what would and wouldn't work in different situations? Sade (the band) has made some great material over the years. Some people confuse subtlety with monotony. It takes a keen ear to understand the differences.

That's not even true. That could actually go to Beyonce over Sade.

yes sade's voice is more unique, even janet's voice is more unique then Beyonce.

Beyonce has this ghetto church voice, and im pretty sure there are girls out there who can duplicate the sound and definitly the style.

"Ghetto church voice" I see where your head is at. You need not comment any further due to your lack of knowledge on this subject.
