The album is a savior of rock!!! IMO...their live shows are no different. Check out their previous album 'R'..as well! You wont be disapointed...check out some of the following as well..
-The Dautsuns -Iriaka Colt -Division of Laura Lee Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I've been a Queens fan for a couple of years now and all their albums are worth buying. Songs For The Deaf is their latest album and is terrific. It's not the "friendliest" of albums to get into though if youre a newcomer. Rated R which was their previous album is much more direct and contains more songs like No One Knows. "Songs" is a little more like their debut, big and psychedelic.

I expected this album to be great. I was more than a little disappointed. I love Dave Grohl's drumming but the songwriting gets repetitive and the actual production on the drums is all high end and no mids or lows. This album needed to sound LOUD! But the drum production prevented that.

Yup as a whole its too dense, its not the songwriting. It's the production. Rated R is a more accessible album and their finest. Songs is still a great album but the production marrs it somewhat.

I started a thread on this band when Songs for Deaf came out and nobody responded.
This band is creative, intelligent and they FUCKING ROCK. As far as the production not having low end, I missed that (I'll listen again for that). People don't get this music (generally) and I've seen them four times but they never sell-out. I guess their huge in England (can anybody confirm?)/ Rated R is good, their 1st album is great but check out the Desert Sessions (volumes 1-7). Oh yeah, take drugs and listen with headphones, thats how it was created. [This message was edited Fri Feb 7 9:29:02 PST 2003 by JamesMarshallHendrix]

i bought it because i read that mark lanegan was handling the vocals on it... then, when i actually listened to it, i found out that he's only singing on a handful of tracks, so i got rid of it... i liked the songs that featured lanegan on lead vocals, but the actual lead singer gets on my nerves... Candy Dulfer is my boo...

Their last two tours completely sold out and Songs debuted at Number 4 in the album charts. Ive seen them a few times live and theyre both fantastic and lazy. There is a real sense of detachment they have from their audience and this really kinda bothered me every time i saw them. Queens play for themselves. They're a very insular band. I have the Desert Sessions stuff and it is fantastic. As for the guy who mentioned Mark Lanegan. Everytime that man came on stage on their last tour. Queens turned from a good band into a world class band, he has remarkable stage presence.

Between this and the David Lee Roth thread (both on a Prince site), I'd hate to see how much music we have in common.

Candy Dulfer is my boo...
