It's probably a complete coincidence Madonna is styled like a wartime victory pinup girl the day after America triumphed over its public enemy No. 1. Whether or not she's making a political statement, there's something amazingly patriotic about the singer's slinky, star-spangled Stella McCartney gown with sequined clutch, loose curls and red lipstick. It makes us wanna stand up and cheer!

It's a shame that Debbie's solo career never really took off. When she released her first solo album,'Koo Koo' in 1981,it looked like she was on her way to solo superstardom, but it never happened.Ironically, that album was produced by Niles Rodgers, who would go on to produce Madonna's 'Like A Virgin' album just a few years later.I think that Debbie never really found enough great songs that would elevate her to the top.As it stands, the Blondie material rivals anything she ever did on her own.

Andrew Lloyd Webber wants...ard Remake

Andrew Lloyd Webber thinks Madonna would be a ''great Norma Desmond'' in a remake of 'Sunset Boulevard'.

Madonna is being pursued for a role in a remake of 'Sunset Boulevard'.

The 52-year-old star - who will soon release her directorial debut 'W.E.', a two-tier tale about the relationship between Britain's King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson, and a modern day woman called Wally - is wanted by maestro Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber for a reimagining of the classic 1950 movie in the role of Norma Desmond, played by Gloria Swanson.

He told Piers Morgan: "I bet you this never, ever, happens, but you know who would make a great Norma Desmond on screen? Madonna.

"She's the right age. I've not got through to her. She hasn't taken my call this time."

Andrew previously worked with Madonna as the composer and songwriter on 'Evita' - about the life of B-list Argentinean actress Eva Duarte - for which he won an Oscar for Best Music and Madonna picked up a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress.

The original 'Sunset Boulevard' tells the tale of a screenwriter who scripts a story for a faded silent-movie star.

It won three Oscars at the 1951 Academy Awards, including Best Music.

I'm on the fence when it comes to this.

On one hand, I'd love for Madonna to FINALLY break through Hollywood.

On the other hand, aside from my disdain with hollywood remakes, thats a meaty role and a risky one at that, lets keep in mind that its Gloria friggin' Swanson who put a heap load of blood, sweat, tears and her expertise as an actress on this role, it wouldn't be easy to top her charisma and performance. Its like asking Justin Timberlake to play Malcolm McDowell's character in a remake of A Clockwork Orange.

I Love Madonna and this is the one of the best grown up look she has presented in a very long time.

thumbs up!

I remember my brothers drooling over Blondie when she first came out....I think she and Pat Benetar was in a class all by themselves.

She looks fantastic! I thik Debbie Harry nailed it in regards to why she did not become the next Madonna. Madonna is always working. Whether music, tours, videos, movies, fashion, books, whatever. She works. And she maybe not be succesful in all her endevours but she still works and works. She could've retired by now and her legacy would live on but no she keesp trying. I hear she just directed a movie.

I became a Madonna fan after I saw the Confessions Tour. I was a naysayer. But when I was invited to the show an unexpected excitement came over me. The magnitude of her fame and that I was going to see this famous person live could have been part of the excitement. But the shows blew me away. The engegy she has is unmatched IMO.

^ Right.

But I'm still impressed that Debbie is edging towards 66. What a legend.

She's right, she is much sexier than Madonna IMO but i think she got waylaid with drugs etc which distracted her from the work, is a shame as her music is great.

Right. sad But I'm glad she didn't let the drugs totally destroy her. smile Maybe if she hadn't been so addicted, she definitely would've been up there with Madonna...

I may be recalling things incorrectly, but along with the interuption provided by some serious drug use, Chris experienced a rather intense and prolonged health crisis in there.

nod Debbie Harry can still deliver in concert. I just saw her at the Fillmore last year and Blondie was rocking the joint! I felt like I was transported back in time. Ole gal looked great, sang great, and lifted up her skirts to sass the crowd... lol

Madge looks great, love the dress...At a time she looked like she had some really stiff and obvious cheek implants but her face looks really nice now. Maybe now she's injecting her own fat from other parts of her body into her face....nevertheless she looks good.
