Solange- "Left Side Drive" (Previously Unheard Track) [img:$uid]http://i51.tinypic.com/2qw38yd.jpg[/img:$uid]
May 1, 2011
Solange digs in the crates and shares a previously unheard song with her fans.
Written two years ago over Scottish duo Boards of Canada’s “Left Side Drive,” the 24-year-old singer gently coos over the electronic beat.
“It’s completely unofficial, and was just inspired by the song which i have had a deep love affair with for years,” she explained, adding, “I am a huge Boards of Canada fan, and got the chance to work with them on Sol-Angel on ‘This Bird’. Still feel honored to this day.”

Starts off like a old Prince track...I like it. I like her. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

Love her, too. Not quite lovin' the bite out of Ms. Jody that she is taking with this outfit, but that's alright, I don't think it is deliberate.

^ I thought I was the only one who thought she looked like Jody Watley....She does remind me of her.
Anywhoo I love Solange. I appreciate what she's tyrna do. She's fresh and funky. Will give this a listen.

I like Solange. Seems like she's the artist in the family while Bey is the entertainer.

Yeah pretty much. | |

That's a cool cut. Sounds like a Wendy & Lisa produced song. Her debut album was nice as hell. I love her look.

Why isn't she even a bigger star? She certainly has more artistic depth and range than her more famous sister.

Because radio don't like artists, they like buzz.

I think so, too. Plus, her voice doesn't grate my ears. Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

That is a perfect description! "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

That reminds me of an interview with her from several years ago on BET while promoting her last album. She mentioned how she contacted several producers to talk about her ideas for her album, and in particular Pharrell. After talking with him, Pharrell told her that she wouldn't get radio airplay, and Solange replied that she didn't care about that.

Niiiice!! I eggspecially dig how she accentuates the notes, and thus the Wendy/Lisa comparison. Solange has a pretty decent melody IQ, if'n you ask me... Thanks for sharing! Now if you don't mind, I'm just gonna excuse myself and go take another listen. Y'all need anything from the store while Im gone?

This one? Some people think her 2nd album was her debut. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Much like Janet, I'm sure Solange wishes she hadn't made that album. Unlike her sister she took time off to find herself. Obviously Mathew pushed Solange to do the first album.

What's wrong with Janet's 1st album? I personally like it better than any of her others. Btw that black and white photo is sooooo pretty. I dare say that she looks better than her big sis.

Joseph Jackson.
Just my opinion.
Anyway back to Solange.

I saw pictures of her at the same event where her sister got booed, and I thought she looked better than Bey at the event.

She sure did. Bey stays in her too tight mermaid dresses all the damn time...no variety...couldn't even walk up the damn steps . Everything about Solo is a breath of fresh air...her style and her music. I just feel she is being her true self while Bey stays tryna be "Miss America".
