So those virtues are good for you but not JW's, ehh? rolleyes

The "virtue" of discounting a belief held by people who are different than you, so as to raise yourself up, is a long held tradition in many faiths. Christians seems fairly well versed in this capacity.

lol

Joe is Lutheran. Katherine was Baptist when they married. She adopted JW later in their marriage. Only MJ, Janet and Randy were raised into the faith. Reebie adopted it, finding her husband in their local hall. It never took hold in Randy. MJ adopted it nad left only after JWs challenged his occult images in Thriller. Janet left early on when she couldn't find solace w/ relationship/marriage to James.

Yeah Katherine was actually born Lutheran like Joe (I think) but converted to Baptist after moving from Alabama to Indiana. It was only after having Randy that she began to check out the Jehovah's Witness faith, like at least 18 months after Randy's birth. She first practiced it in 1963 and converted fully in 1965. You forgot to mention that La Toya was raised a JW along with Michael, Janet and Randy. Janet and Randy left the religion both at 18.

However, I have never met a Jehovah's Witness that didn't have the thinking that they were right and everyone else was wrong. I mean to point of going door to door and making a neusance of themselves.

Honestly, except for the door to door bit, I haven't met any seriously religious person of any faith that doesn't think that they're right and everyone else that doesn't believe as they do are wrong.

I grew up in Christian churches, dabbled in Islam, currently married to a Jehovah's Witness and have been exposed to many people, of many faiths through out my travels. In the end, it's all the same... 'we're right, and the others have it wrong...and we can prove it with this book'.

I understand what you're saying, though... I just don't agree with JW's being singled out. Seems the common thing to do, but it isn't fair when many are guilty of the same things. I understand that many of us were taught from an early age that JW's were "freaks" and were to be ridiculed....myself included, and I see that attitude a lot on these forums in relation to Prince's conversion.

I don't follow ANY religion at all... and being able to step away and look at it all somewhat objectively has opened up my eyes. But that's ME...I could be wrong or I could be right.

I will say, that neither my wife nor any other JW's have ever tried to force their beliefs on me...they may test the waters but then quickly back off, while still treating me with respect. I can't say that for other religious folks I've encountered.

I didn't make this comment to bash JW's, I just know usually with other religions, they don't go against their beliefs [pretty much] at all. Releasing a Christmas album & you don't celebrate Christmas is just kinda weird to me [especially for back then]. Now days, people do this type of sell out stuff all of the time. But maybe they always did it....I just know I'm not making a "Hanukkah" or "Kwanzaa" or " festivus" album anytime soon.... wink

Joseph was NEVER a JW in the first place. Katherine was and still is a JW since childhood.

Katherine became a JW in the 60's, Joe practiced it along with her and their kids too but he never got baptised as one and alot of her kids decided not to continue as adults. Only Michael, Rebbie and Latoya continued going to kingdom hall as adults.

They released a christmas album because they signed a contract and had to do what berry Gordy said, everything was planned out for them. You think alot of celebs who endorse things actually use them? it's business.
