After being touted for six years and being turned down by every major label that was negotitated with (mainly due to the artist' demands for creative control and upfront advances), ARETHA: A WOMAN FALLING OUT OF LOVE hits Wal-Mart on Tuesday and walmart.com; and on June 3rd everywhere else.

The best cuts are two songs produced and written by Detroit's own Curtis Boone ("U Can't See Me" and "When Two Become As One") and her cover of B.B. King's "Sweet Sixteen", which was produced by Miss Franklin.

The eclectic nature of the 12 tunes is a mixed bag of this and that. Her vocals, many of which are done in layers of her singing with her self, are somewhat reminiscent of her 1974 album WITH EVERYTHING I FEEL IN ME.

Puzzling as to what took this so long to come out, and additionally what happened to the duets with Dennis Edwards, Faith Hill, Shirley Caesar and Smokie Norful; or the tunes written by R. Kelly and Keisha Cole and the tracks produced by Gordon Chambers.

I'm kind of excited about this album. Thanx 4 the review. I don't consider myself a big fan of Aretha's, but I do love and respect her.
