La Toya Jackson NEW BOOK, NEW SINGLE, NEW ALBUM
Not only will La Toya release the follow-up to La Toya: Growing Up in the Jackson Family this summer, but a new single and album are on the way as well.
Fans have been waiting patiently for La Toya's long-delayed opus Startin' Over since the first mention of it in 2003 and will finally have their hands on the finished product this year! Both the book, Starting Over and the single, "Startin' Over" will see a June 21st release, with the album to follow soon after. And, in usual La Toya fashion, Church of La Toya will get an exclusive snippet of the single a week before release. Keep checking back here for further updates.
The book, La Toya's manager and co-author Jeffré Phillips tells us, is "absolutely incredible! La Toya speaks about her life in detail and discusses everything you ever wanted answers to."

On another thread,we learn that Joe Jackson is planning a musical based on his life.
Funny how, since MJ's death, his family members now have a million projects lined up all of a sudden |

Latoya actually planned Startin Over in 2003 and it kept getting delayed. She has been through enough in her own personal life that I believe can be made into a book. Having that said, I'm not a big musical fan of latoya though I like a few cuts here and there, I just have respect for her for surviving so much. |

see, i'm with you... i don't have problems with la toya... she's been through things. she's extremely flawed, but funny enough, i think she seems to be less flawed than some others in her family. i have the other book; it's not very good, but i think there were some things she screamed out. the interviews around that time are truly disturbing. the interview with byron allen is one of the best interviews i have seen with her.
i think both she and michael are survivors. no, she can't sing. at all. like you, there are some songs i like. her first two albums are quite good, and slept-on. but she's got other skills. if she didn't she would have left this earth long ago. |

She seems to be a very likeable and pleasant person. She definitely has an intellegence and wisdom about her that perhaps her past experiences and mistakes have created. I do think though that she is so accustomed to other people directing her that if she does have some creative talent it's invisible and untouchable- she's essentially and unfortunately a puppet and when she's presented with opportunities to flex a creative muscle- she digresses.... [Edited 4/29/11 5:40am] LOVE HARD. |

I'm sure she's a very nice, likable person. But as an artist/celebrity,she just doesn't have anything to offer. She should have went to school and studied to become a lawyer or something. Not everyone in that family was blessed with talent. |

I don't even care what kind of talent she has...All I know is she's so easy to be brainwashed!! =( It just makes it harder for me to ever fully trust her...Especially the stuff she talks about Michael... |

well she WAS planning to study law... everybody has a skill they can offer, whether or not it's visible to the public. again, if she didn't have a skill she would not be on this earth right now. maybe her skill is being a supportive aunt to her brother's children. maybe it is looking at some legal issues. maybe it's a writing poetry no one has ever seen... |

i know... she's gone back and for the with that. i think she carries a severe case of stockholm syndrome... michael did as well in some ways. i think the brainwashing thing have have to do with her childhood trauma... like michael, i don't think she's ever properly dealt with her trauma, and it all came out in public. that's not healthy. my heart goes out to her. |

Joe didn't allow her to develop ANYTHING. |

Well in that case, why not just say that Joe kept her out of medical school and the space program as well? |

student: yeah some of her songs are really catchy from the 80's, and some from the 00's....I think she wrote from the heart in recent years, I liked that Home song for example, and I respect that she wrote a song for Jimmy Cliff instead of keeping it for herself and won a grammy. Her voice isn't all that, but maybe she would have made a good songwriter.
Also, she seems to have a great bond with the children, probably cause she never had her own and feels she is getting that now and keeping her brother alive through them. The Stockholm Syndrome theory makes sense too, which I believe can also lead to being used to being treated like a pushover or a doormat. I don't watch celebrity apprentice, but from fans' accounts of it, I could kind of sense she was battling with her past and trying not to let those patterns repeat.
SoulAlive: she wanted to be a nurse or get into business and was studying at one point at a college from what I heard. But Joseph didn't let her continue it.
robert: I can tell she likes business, and she did have her own brand of clothing (the headbands) in the 80's.

She's seen as a media star, not a music one. People clearly care if she got 3 million viewers on Larry King in 2003, more viewers than they had in years, and because of her interviews and the headlines she made. Yes she knows how to market herself and get attention, but that's no reason to hate her, she's already owned up to what she did 20 years ago and what she went through. |

I agree.... I really just dont trust anything she says though especially when it comes to Michael. That whole family is just all over the place.. and to be quite honest Im just done with them except MJ and his kids.. I'm crazy in love with Michael. Janet has a couple of great songs, videos and performances and the Jackson boys are pretty descent songwriters and musicians but golly they are just really not a unit when it comes down to their family and supporting one another. Every since Michaels passing, they have been trying their hardest to exploit Michael and his children. Thank God for the Estate! |

I'm a huge michael and janet fan, and care for the kids and feel sorry for his mom. I lost a lot of respect for his family too and was bashing them too though I won't get rid of my j5 CD's . But now I take what they say and how they act with a grain of salt, whether good or bad for michael's name, cause we are not there and can't take it to bed, and they are grieving in their own, strange but own ways. I'm still crying over michael cause he means so much to me. I feel really empty I never saw him and that he was taken this way. [Edited 4/30/11 14:34pm] |

i think for the kids, they haven't proven themselves to be conniving... i think they've seen everything their father went through, and learned quick. |
