Flav's Fried Chicken Joint Shuts Down

[img:$uid]http://i53.tinypic.com/wcjvpj.jpg[/img:$uid]

April 25, 2011

Flavor Flav's fried chicken restaurant in Clinton, Iowa has closed less than four months after opening earlier this year.

Flav's Fried Chicken, the first of a planned chain co-owned by the Public Enemy emcee and reality television star, struggled with bounced paychecks to its employees. Flav initially denied the eatery's difficulty in paying its staff but told television station WQAD that he pulled the plug on the restaurant because "there's a lot of employees that weren't getting paid."

Flav told TMZ that he cut ties with the business in part because he was disgusted by the practices of restaurant manager Nick Cimino. "Let me be straight up with you, I went up inside there on April 2nd and I found potato salad that expired on February 28," the rapper said. "And it's then when I realized I can't do business with this man and I really hope no one ate those potatoes."

In an interview with WQAD, Cimino declared Flav to be a "fraud" and alleged the rapper "doesn't want to be hurt with the other ventures he's doing and he wants to become a millionaire off my dime, off my ideas." Cimino claims that the payroll issue was the result of a "credit card glitch."

This experience has clearly not deterred Flav from opening other restaurants. His Flavor Flav's House of Flavor is set to open in Las Vegas next month.

spit all on the screen!

Ok...I talk mad shit about Flava Flav (mostly because he's an ugly multiple baby daddy/ex druggy/old fart) but in this case I might have to cough up some sympathy for him. Perhaps this Nick Cimino fellow really was taking advantage of Flav and the employees. I mean who keeps expired food and writes blank checks that early in the game? Your average business fails within the first 2 years and poor Flav's chicken joint couldn't last 6 months? That screams FRAUD and I'm willing to lay the blame at the foot of the man who was there every day of operation - Mr Cimino.

But the silver lining is that Flav won't make anymore chicken nuggets and ribbets at least for some time.

hah! Full rack of ribs with 2 small sides. Come on now!

That shit was doomed from the start. Did Flava think he seriously had what it took to take over Church's and Popeye's and KFC? lol Need to save the cooking for his family and keep it moving.

Now seriously, lol Timmy was right about what he said in a previous Flavor Flav thread. The USA do NOT really need another fried chicken-related fast food chain.

I don't get folks around here, some breathing a sigh of relief, others feeling sorry, cause Flav's out of business, but he's not, he's just gotten a bigger, sweeter deal that could lead him to a chain.

Flav's Vegas Chicken Deal -- In the Bucket!

It's official -- drunk people in Vegas will soon be able to turn to Flavor Flav for all of their late night fried chicken munchy needs ... because he just locked his deal to open a new joint.

What idea could Cimino have possibly had besides "let's put Flav's picture on a bucket of chcken"?

Did it flop, was it badly managed or better yet, did they really care cause they got paid and hooked a bigger fish?

Look at me I sound like I'm all for it. Let's just say I don't have any flight reservations to Vegas around it's grand opening.

But still lines were out the door in (never heard of the place), Iowa (?). I just feel bad for a town that thought it was going to get a little economic boost from the venture, I'm sure Flav didn't miss a paycheck. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong, I really hope I am.

Frankly, he should have just continued with his Flava of Love show. Guranteed paycheck with potential free booty. Plus, he would have helped employed a few aspiring models and hoodrats. Some folk just don't know how to do bidness!
