What's the best Isley's album from '96 onward? Anyone?? People seem to either love or hate their 90s/00s material so it's hard for me to make a judgment based on reviews. But I trust you guys so let's hear your opinions. [Edited 4/27/11 12:08pm] "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

The only one I have is Eternal. It's alright if you like all slow jams. The one with Burt Bacharach (which I also have) is pretty good. I don't really care about the "Mr. Biggs" stuff in general, as I don't go out of my way to hear R. Kelly music. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Wasn't "Mission To Please" the one that featured production from Angela Winbush? If so, that's the last Isley Bros. album I bought.

Yes, it is. It was their best album (to me) in the 90s until now. The rest of the albums had a few good tracks and were just filled with boring tracks. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

If the Isleys were to do one final album - time is catching up to them - they would have to produce it themselves. I don't trust them with outside producers.

And "Mission" was definitely their final "best" album though "Eternal" had its moments.

That's not going to happen. I think they have lost all of their creative juices. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Eternal was ok. I could listen to that one from start to finish. I just couldn't take the one with "Just Came Here to Chill" or "Mr I." Both were GARBAGE. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

You're right. I doubt a 70-year-old Ronald Isley, a 72-year-old Rudolph Isley (who's retired now) and a 59-year-old Ernie Isley could recreate the magic ever again. Maybe they'll pack it in soon though. We'll have the memories though.

"Baby Makin' Music" was HORRID. Don't know why I bought it now tbh.

If Ronald Isley is still calling all the shots, then forget it.
Now if Ronald AND Ernie are willing to keep their prides in check long enough, then they need to bring Chris Jasper back into the band and let him co-produced the entire album. Remember, Chris is THE only Isley that NEVER sold-out on The Funk for shit-hop/rhythmless bullshit like Ronald & Ernie did.
To put it bluntly, Chris Jasper is THE only "Isley" that I trust to do the right thing musically.

Doesn't Chris release only gospel albums now? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Nevermind 96 and onward. I don't like anything they've done since around 86 and onward. The last thing I liked was "Look The Other Way" from Isley Jasper Isley and even that was weak compared to their early 1980s and 1970s work. But that late 1980s adult contemporary and 1990s and 2000s neo stool and shit hop stuff has got to go. Andy is a four letter word.

Chris still make gospel tracks even today. But he also acknowledge in a recent interview on his plans to release an all new album of pure funk. And he still own some synths in his studio as well.

IJI's Caravan Of Love is still a far better track than anything the Isleys have done with R. Kelly's help post-1996. Once again, Chris Jasper on synths is a factor.
