What songs lift you up and make you smile when you're feeling down? Post 'em up. This one's doing it for me right now.

Nice idea for a thread! Was just looking for something to boost the old serotonin levels, as it happens.
These two are just great feelgood songs. You just play 'em loud and forget your worries.
I just found this one a few months ago, and it's currently my 'pick-me-up' song.
And these are for when I really need some nourishment for the soul, and a reminder that there's hope in the world, and the Babylon System is coming crashing down one day.

Can't think of any to be honest then again, I never listen to music when I'm down. Because when I look back at it, I associate the songs I listen to with a bad memory, and that usually make me not listen to those songs anymore.

I always use music as a lifter-upper anyway so it'll be too many to name anyway.

When my spirits need lifting, the CD that makes me feel better (though not necessarily by putting a smile on my face) is usually Sounds of Blackness "Africa To America". I love this entire CD, and it usually helps to make me feel understood, encouraged, and hopeful for a better tomorrow. Sounds corny, but it works for me.
This song in particular is very uplifting for me:

Perhaps with the exception of 'Confide in Me,' about 95% of Kylie Minogue's songs cheer me up, I find something really cheerful, light, girly and upbeat in them on all levels - her voice, performance, the melodies/tunes, themes of the songs/lyrics, etc. It's all light stuff, and with good, disco-danceable beats.
The three here below are my best and favorite examples, among many others. [Btw, I haven't figured out how to post videos yet, so I hope these links will work!].

and of course, STEVIE:
and the two songs which changed my life:

Many songs, but I have to say almost anything by MJ always does it for me. I could be having the worst day ever, but listenin to MJ's music will always (even if only temporarily) make me feel better. Especially when I listen to "PYT", "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin", "Human Nature",etc. among others. Always puts a smile on my face. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Prince - America & Mountains (I LOVE THESE TWO SONGS!!! Head Boppers)
MJ - Wanna Be Starting Something (Mamma Say Mamma Sa...WHAAAAAT) get yo' fuckin' lighters up!
Madonna - Dress You Up - Holiday (oh yeah)
ABC - UP the entire album!
Billy Idol - Rebel Yell (Fist pumping, snarling...u r a liar if you say you don't do it!)
Yolanda Adams - Even Me ( I sob like a baby but a good hard uplifting cry..if anyone knows of this song you know what the hell I'm talking about)
With all of that said...House Music is king in lifting me...some deep driven bass track or some gospel/clubbed out song like Kenny Bobien "I shall not be moved" Barbara Tucker"Beautiful People"...since none of this music is maintstream it's kind of hard to explain. My contribution to this thread on a Prince forum would not be complete if I didn't mention Rosie Gaines' very uplifting "Take a Chance" and Get Into the Groove" ...
I find both songs full of hope and encouragement, and I listen to them when I need a little boost in confidence and a little push to pick myself up and get going.
