Well Amerie understands marketing and that you have to think outiside the box of the "usa", like i said before in reference to KELLY the usa cant take more than Rihanna and Beyonce unless its so "in the mold" of them that you have to take things elsewhere, Amerie realized this on"Because I Love It" and pushed that and did well building a base in the UK even taking up residence, then branching to Japan Korea, and now going into Germany, you gotta do it, or all you will be able to do in America is the same old thing that everyone else is doing, either that or take the lead from Tearria Mari and put out tons of mixtapes and videos, and do your own promo.

I watched "Take Control"

Boring.

No stage presence on the intro song.

Too much of her adlib vocals in the background track (not her fault; her engineer's fault)

Dressed like she just got home from school. neutral

Sorry but even though I like Amerie, I wasn't inspired to continue watching her.

And those dancers?. sad

It looks like a high schooler choreographed them. Those moves were not professional.

I hope she gets it together. She has a nice voice.

Well theres a huge difference in performing overseas and how they do things. Backtracks are used in clubs and most tv shows, alot of bands still do the "american bandstand" type performance on the major shows over there especially in germany. the outift, well this wasnt a planned gig, just a show up get some light type thing, she did it down in Atlanta recently, and pretty much looked the same or similar, i think when its NOT your event dont come in like you own the place, tacky. As for dancing im not going to comment, because its not relevant to music and i hear it spoken about on too many threads and its useless.

The problem wasn't the use of backing tracks; it was poorly mixed backing tracks in that they had way too much of her lead vocals in them. That always makes singers look a bit insincere. She has a good voice. She doesn't need to have all of those ad libs going. It takes away from the show. As to her performance being impromptu, well I didn't know that. It looks it. Maybe she should keep a nice little dress in a bag somewhere? I know secretaries and librarians that keep a bag with a "cute little dress" and "fuck me pumps" in them just in case they meet the right man, let alone get on stage and do a performance. If she had her backing tracks, she could have had something stashed so she could hit the stag looking like a performer and not a student. I'm not knocking her skills, just her preparedness to do a gig.

But, I guess an impromptu gig beats no gig, so kudos to her for doing it.

Amerie had one of the best female albums of the last decade imo (Touch), also her debut was very underrated, she really focused on soulful/jazz/hiphop melodies on those first two but unfotunatly didnt gain chain chart success so she started trying too hard and taking the club/pop/house direction in her music which sucked, i do hope she goes back to her orginal sound on her next LP. If she doesnt i got Jhene Aiko smile

Gotta disagree on that one, i think "Because I Love it" is one of the best rb female albums of the 2000's its where she broke away from Sony and really owned her sound, she has said the new album will be very much in that vibe blending in rock and dance, i think the days of the first album and that sound are long gone for Amerie, to me that was way too simple for her, TOUCH was a strong album but "Because" is her pinnacle, and in that genre too.

Im seeing that done alot in Club performances, so im hearing what you are saying, I recently viewed MYA's set at Club Haze and the mixers did the same thing, however i think you would have appreciated MYA's wardrobe in that one, i did, but that was a scheduled appearance.

Because I love it, what kind of music do u listen to dude? LOL, Take control and Work it are totally lame, no melody and lyrical substance watsoever, Crush and Crazy wonderful were like some cheesy pop tunes from the 80's, what genre exactly is BILT, cause it aint the same as the first 2 thats for sure.

Give me Rolling down my face, Falling, Can we and One Thing anyday over Because I love it.

no sorry on that one, that first album is nothing more than typical RB girl stuff, never liked that record. The Becuase I Love it album was superior in every way, the production was alot of the sounds that she was using on TOUCH, just stripped down further. Thats basically her sound it started on 1thing and continued on tracks like "Make You Believe it" and "Higher" on the fourth record, as for "dance" Ameriie has never even touched dance music yet on any of the 4 albums so im not sure how she has gone "dance"

No, im sorry cause what u said just proves that u have no idea wat ur talking about, first of all im talking about "Touch" (2005) her second album not her first (All I have) which was released in 2002, second its the first 2 that sound similar in which she used same sounds which were both produced by Rich Harrison who she had met in 02, Beacuse I love it was her first album not to feature writing and production from her long-time collaborator, friend, and producer Rich Harrison but Other producers—such as Bryan Cox, The Buchanans and Lenny Nicholson and thats why it sounded different and Finally to prove that you really have no idea what your talking about is that her first/new single"Outside your Body" is PURE DANCE!!!

ok dude first of all I know what im talking about, look back on my Amerie posts, i know clearly what the first and second albums are, the second album differed in sound because if U know the history SHE WAS THE ONE that came up with that 1thing beat not Mr. Harrison, he left for the "money" and production chances paid by Mr. Knowles, Beyonces Dad, this is all pure history that is WELL KNOWN, this is why Amerie left sony after the third record. And sorry "Outside Your Body: is a leaked demo NOT A SINGLE, its not even going on the new album, ok singles are things that are actually released not demos and tracks just dropped on the net, learn the difference. Never said Touch was her first album, which shows you dont read clearly, the comparison i made to TOUCH was to show how everyone thinks "harrison" orchestrated the "sound" but that sound is all over the third record, the sound being what is on tracks like "1 thing" and "talking about" case closed, u dont like her third and forth thats cool, i suggest you look elsewhere cause number 5 is going to be like number 3 since the RB sound is PLAYED out.

No u dont dude go read your previous post you bring up her first record when im actually talking about her second and then you say that she stripped further down her sound from the Touch album on BILT which is COMPLETLEY FALSE because like i said its the first 2 albums have the same collabrator/producer and share the same sound. Then what the hell has the single "1thing" have to do with this LOL, who cares if she came up with that beat or not LOL, were talking about both albums (1st & 2nd) as bodies of music, a whole sound not just one song LOL. Harrison's sound is not "over the third record" in any way, thats again COMPLETLEY FALSE anyone who has ears for music will notice the difference, obviously you dont. YES "Outside your body" is the first single dude go do some checking up and yes it is a DANCE TRACK biggrin

oh and ur a little confused about the Amerie/B situation, Amerie claimed that B stole the 1thing beat on "Green Light" on her B Day album which led to drama and ending with A's depature from Def Jam.

Amerie's reaction when she heard Beyonce's 'Green Light':

"Umm, I'm not going to comment on that. I'm just going to say, I would never take a sample of any other female's music. Even on my mixtape, there isn't any other female's music being redone. I didn't sample 'Green Light' to get at her, and I'm not going at Beyonce on the record.

Oh and for the record Dude ive been listing to Amerie ever since she collabrated with Nas on Stillmatic in 2001, you probably dont even know that song, go check it out. Peace
